Not as of this time. Until you guys try some more brands.
I try to estimate to the best of my ability what I know will work. I don't have just money to burn on buying and trying tires. I did that the first time I went darkside. Don't count this tire out. I rides like a dream.

I hope you didn't take that last comment of mine as demeaning cuz I didn't mean it that way. It just looks like a very coarse tread pattern, almost knobby.

Hey Michael,
Nothing to it....I didn't think twice about it dude. I love my tire....and don't care if any one else does. I always have been my own man, did it my own way and done what I liked. I just like to share the wealth of what I do, if it helps me....I figure it will help others. I don't worry about what people think....if I did, I WOULDN'T POST IT ON THE INTERNET.......
The tread pattern is actually tighter than the pic appears.... I zoomed in for the shot. You really notice how phat it is way before you notice the pattern of the tire.
Shoot man, I am just glad you are here. Really! I like a guy with a sense of humor. I mean, we let "hick" on here....how's that for having a sense of humor.

Hey Bobby, what is the width of that 205 across the tread now that it's mounted. I have a trailer hitch under my rear finder and not sure that a 205 will fit.

Leo,
Dude, I own a C model. So fender is NOT and issue. But I will measure it for you and let you know what it is. If it would fit...this thing is the bomb right now! I love it.

That tire is Sick looking! how is it on tight curves and twisties? Does it try to keep you from leaning in the turn?

So far so good twisties and all. But I only have about 100 miles on it as of now. It been pouring raining every morning since I put the 205 on and we got all kinds of up grades at work and requires me to NOT look like I have been rained on. I got vendors and meetings for the next two weeks. But if it is not raining when I get ready to leave the house, I be riding again.
****The tire has NOT be tested to it's extreme to see how it really handles yet?**** But I can tell you this with the required manufactured air pressure of 35 psi...it rides like a dream.
Give me a couple more weeks on this 205 and I will be able to give you a better report. I will also tell you this. That the tread type of this tire is the same tread type of my 165's and they handles great, so I expect nothing less. What I haven't done is the higher speed tests. Highway speeds and putting around town. It's nice.

Re: Twin's Wideside mod......205 on a stock rim!
hey buddy,
just curious, if this 205 fit's on stock rim (if it's close to 4" wide) does that mean that any other size in between 165 and 205 will fit on our stock "R" rim???
If I recall correctly you are using now 205-65-15, and just from curiousity I am thinking that it may fit any diferent size in between 165 and 205.
Does it sound right??
Or if anyone else have tried to use any other size on stock rim??
I don't talk about foot mod, but plain stock "R" rim.
Thanks.

Dino,
Right now we are in un-charted water on sizes and brands. I measured the opening in Walmart on the Douglas 205 to see if it was close to 4" and it was a tad over 4 1/2", so I assumed it would work and it did. I don't know about other brands of tires right now. I know the Douglas makes a 195/65/15, but it was not an option for me because the it is a smaller in diameter than the 165's we currently run and would throw the speedo's way, way off.
I hope this helps you.....I know it isn't much data. But, every one else, if they choose to try something different, you are on your on.

Leo,
Here the scoop. Very outside to outside on sidewalls is 6 3/4".The actual tread that touches the ground is 6". I hope that helps you.

I'd still like to see the 165 next to, to give people a better perspective.

I keep forgetting to do that for you Cerooth. My bad, the camera is at work because of taking pics of big job we got going and the 165 is at home. I will see what I can do.

Re: Twin's Wideside mod......205 on a stock rim!
Here's my 205 next to the 165...although I did do the full Foots mod...so it's a 205/65/16 next to the 165r15. But it's a good side by side, although it looks like Twin has a bit more clearance on the driveshaft side than I do.

Re: Twin's Wideside mod......205 on a stock rim!
This is the best I can put together till I get home. The top photo is the 165mm and the bottom is the 205mm. As you can see the the 165/80/15 is close to the diameter of the 205/65/15 just wider. (you can really notice when you look at the pic of where the tire touches the ground)

Re: Twin's Wideside mod......205 on a stock rim!
I really want to try out the new 205 wideside. i was wondering if you put the tire on yourself or got a tire shop to put it on. if i would get the stealer to put it on, would they have to use the cooking oil or is that only if i were to put it on? i saw that unilateral tire on here comparing it to the 165, would that tire work and were was that purchased from? This may be an dumb question but the 205 would be wider than the 200 m/t ? this is exciting times

I got a shop to do it locally...they even sell the tires for darksides for Valk's, Wings, and 1800's. If you have it done by a shop, tires are hard to mount by youself, but you can seat the bead by yourself, if you got a large enough compressor.
***** Just tell them it goes to a "drag bike" and bring just the wheel to them and car tire and tell them you will pay cash, that way they will NOT be liable.*********** You want them to balance it if they can for you.
I used the cooking oil (heard about cooking oil trick on this forum) because it some slick stuff and will not contaminate or destroy rubber. I brought my own cooking oil and told them to use this. Be sure they just don't put it on the bead and rim. Go all the way almost to the lettering to be sure it is all covered to get a lower seat on the beading.
Yes, 205mm is wider than a 200mm. It's a valid question. Car tires and motorcycle tire are both measured by milimeters and width is width.
Now the uni-directional tire is toasted's tire. He did a foots mod (where you install a 1800 VTX rim on your 1300 to run wider tires)......So, the answer is that that tire toasted used is a 16" diameter tire and the stock 1300 uses a 15" tire. I only installed what I thought I could get mounted, so if we have any other brands to choose from, you guys are going to be the guinea piges to get it done. Good or bad. Sorry, I can only let you know what I have done and maybe what's possible. But you do it at your own risk. I might work or it might not fit the stock rim.
Yes, these are some exciting times.....with the wideside mod. I rode home in the wet on my 205 last nite after the rain storm here and man, it stuck to the road fantastic. I am impressed. I didn't slip one time on me.

Re: Twin's Wideside mod......205 on a stock rim!
Since I have all the equipment to do my own mountings and balancing I am going to try a 205/70-15 and see how it works out. I need to wear out my current tire first and that stinking Continental is going to last 8k-10k I'm pretty sure (great MT BTW)
Anyway, the taller 70 series 205 is RATED for a 5" wide rim so it should fit a 4" with no serious complaints and help out with the RPM's as I ride a LOT of highway during the summer as I teach MSF all over the state. So, maybe sometime around July or so I'll have the one worn out and finally go wideside/darkside even though it'll get me in a bit of trouble from my MSF director, but hey I like being in trouble it's familiar territory at least.
Whatya think TWIN (or anyone) should the extra height of a 205/70-15 work out fine on a 1300C??
George

"Hor-hay" (George in Spanish)..hehehehe,
Now you are thinking like a true darksider........Dang the torpedo's...full speed ahead!
Yes, I think you have done good homework to have a successful wideside....plus the taller side walls aught to be like getting a sixth gear these guys are always trying to find. From my calculations you will have 10.35 taller side walls larger than my 205/65's.
"Hoooo-lie" (July in Spanish)....Bwwhahahaha Man, One good burnout on that Continental and it's summer time baby!!!! July would already be here.....
All kidding aside..... I think all that you have done, will work out great. Very good looking tires too. Keep us up to date and I will be waiting to take the honorary membership off the darkside list.... Be sure and do pics and tell what you find out. JULY............are you fooling me....I wouldn't wait.... Ah, my bad...I was thinking out loud again.

George,
I have been doing some thinking on the way home riding my bike. I think the 205/70 is going to be too tall. Just thinking here. What's the size of our stock tires? It's been two years since I bought a M/T, that I don't remember or want to...hehehehe
