Wanting to go darkside! Help me choose the right tire please
I ride a 2004 vtx 1300c. I'm tired of changing my rear tire twice a year so I'm pretty much sold on a car tire now. The general consensus for my bike seems to be a 205/70-15.
So here are my question:
1. What is the best brand and type of tire to get? I've read tons about the Michelin Hydro Edge and the Goodyear triple tread, however, they aren't available anymore.
2. Is that size tire the best route or could/should I go with something like a 195 instead of 205? The guy I talked to about mounting it to the rim seemed worried that a 205 would be too wide for my rim.
3. Any tips I can give the guy who mounts it to help seat the bead? He seemed oblivious to a ct on a motorcycle, however, he was the only one I could find around here to do it.
4. Any know issues with clearance or rubbing on my bike with the 205/70?
5. Any finally.... Do I really want to do this? lol I've debated several times before and now its time for yet another rear tire.
Thanks for any help y'all can give me to make my decision easier.

Re: Wanting to go darkside! Help me choose the right tire please
Check out the VTX1300 board below. Probably get more answers.
Best brand or type is by opinion. I prefer a runflat tire. I have tried several brands and they have all performed fine. I now look at price and ease of getting the tire. My Sears store here will sell me the tire and mount it. I use dynabeads for balance.
The VTX board will probably have the answer to the 195/205 and clearance question.
Tell the tire guy it will probably take plenty of tire soap and extra air pressure to seat the bead. Some people also use a ratchet strap around the tire to help it seat.
I only know of a handful of people that just didn't like the darkside. Most everyone loves it and won't go back to a motorcycle tire.

They use to make a 205/70/15 GYTT that worked great.
You can still get a 205/65/15 which will work too.
It sits a hair lower, which I know some short legged riders liked.
Search "Kermit" over on the VTX Board. She loved it.
