Looking at going DS this weekend, do most car tire shops mount the tires or should I try cycle shops? I am thinking most tire machines won't hold a MC wheel, right?

I had my last one mounted at a car tire shop. I took it home to seat the bead as it took some vege oil to let it slip in place. Anyone with rim clamp machine can maount it.

See you out there

Wash the rim with a water hose to get all the old soap off from previous mountings....scuff the old stuck on rubber off the rim with some scotch brite......use vegetable oil and lather it by hand all over the seating surface of the rim and all the way up the sides of the bead on the tire.

Secondly, I would take the tire off and tell them it's for a drag bike and have them mount if for you and tell them you don't want a receipt and you will pay cash. Then come back and put it on.

*****Remember, mounting tires are dangerous and all safety precautions need to be followed*********

Good luck.....................bobby

Thats a good idea, I have a tire inflation cage and a 10' stand off inflator at work. So if I can get them to put the rubber on, I can do the rest. I hadn't thought of that. Thanks.

The guy who mounted my Falken 205 recently took a ratchet tie strap and ran it around the tread of the tire, hooked it to itself & tightened it up. He was a little nervous going from 80 psi to the 100 psi it took to get it to bead up. I'd never seen or heard of this before, but I think it might be another safety tip in case the tire gives out when beading up.

We use straps at work on truck tires when we can't get the bead to seal(before it seats), it keeps the tire from growing taller and forces the bead outward. Its a good tip, it works. Thanks.

Just found a custom bike shop that will mount it for $20. With any luck, I should be riding by tomorrow!
