I need some tire recommendations for my son's 09 V Star 950 Touring edition. The MT is a 170/70/16. Any help will be appreciated. Going to post this on the main board also.

I have a 09 Vstar 950. I have a Goodyear Assurance 205/65-16 rear tire (darkside). Works good, lasts a long time. Nothing rubs. I have had it LOADED down too... The tire has 10k miles on it now and is worn about 40%. I recomend it.

V Star 950 Touring Edition Empty I found a tire.

I just put a 195/60/16 Dunlop SP5000 on the bike today. I did the math and the side wall height is identical. I used 3oz of Dyna Beads and the handling is amazing. The tire is the same width as well. I am SO glad I did this.

V Star 950 Touring Edition Empty Mounting

Post  tonydtiger1971 Wed Feb 22, 2012 9:09 pm

hi, new here. I have the 09 950 and was looking to go darkside. The problem is, I'm not very handy with tire changes. I can replace plugs, change oil, the small things, how or who do you talk into putting the tire on?

Has anyone used darkside tires until completely worn? How many miles to wear them out?
