Need Help Mounting CT's

Post  dustman on Mon Sep 22, 2008 4:32 pm

I had seen info on a prior post about some techniques on mounting ct's and ways to help them bead up but now I cannot locate the posts.
Anyone have a proven way to do this I would like to hear from you. Tire is a Bridgstone Potenza 205/60/16.THANKS

I have a how to with pictures in the VT1100 section.
Use vegetable oil. Smear on the tire.
Pump up to 85pst +
wait for the bead to pop.

Helps if the tire is hot
You can bring up the psi if necessary.

You can take the wheel off and take the rim and tire into a tire shop and have them do it.

Some not-so-highly recommended (read: dangerous) methods for stubborn tires are to take them for an unbeaded test ride or bring them up to high revs on the jack. Do these at your own risk.

Good luck.

If you're mounting on a 5.00" rim you shouldn't have a problem, just clean and lube rim and tire bead. It's usually only the narrower rims that have bead seating problems. Good Luck

usually the only ones having any real issues are the guys with spoke rims using a tube and requiring over 110psi+ with some work to seat it! Shocked
