Re: Excessive wear and failure on the universal joint
Candy, have you been listening to them naysayers again? You know, the ones that know it all but yet have never thrown a leg over a darksided bike? Let alone taken the time to actually learn what they are blabbing about.
I thought so
My wing has over 50k on the darkside, I run it at the drag strip, I do drag strip launches about 80% of the traffic lights I sit through. It never ... NEVER runs the posted speed limit, it sees triple digits every ride, at least once. Usually more than once. Often for sustained mileage.
I did have a tranny rebuilt under warranty. I will not blame that on the dark side as my buddy had his rebuilt a few weeks earlier. Here is why I wont blame the darkside.
My bike : 07, 54,000 miles at the time, 45k on the darkside. Rode hard and put up wet regularly.
His bike : 08, 37,000 miles, stock dunnies, babied like it is an old mans bike. I am forever holing up waiting on him after a fun section of road.
nay sayers be damned. Mount it and ride the hell out of it.
See you out there

It was something that was posted on one of the wing forums I belong to and a bunch of us are waiting for a reply from the poster that said it.

My 04 has 106k on it, 100k of that is with a CT and sidecar. Bike is ridden aggressively in WV on a regular basis. No trouble with any part of the drive train, just hard on brake pads.
