dang a nail, , new tire to be mounted 8am on 6/7
Made a return ride home on sunday from my parents, trip of 146 miles,, somewhere in the ride I picked up a nail, never knew it, didn't notice it on monday due to all the rain we had, glanced at it this morning, yup flat tire. Found the nail. I can't even guess when it happened.
here's where I'd like to here some opinions,, 1st the tire is tubed, vlx=spoked tires, not planning to seal the rim right now, the tire has right near 13k miles on it, maybe 8k left on it, it is the 165/80/15, federal tire, and I have been very happy with it. I wanted to move up to the 185/80/15 federal when the current tire was spent, now since I have to take the bike in to get a new tube and plug the current tire, I thought I'd give up on the remaining 8k maybe miles left on this now flat tire and go ahead and do the upgrade now.
what do you think?

The 185 will be 1.26" taller and .75" wider.
I say if your okay with spending the money now instead of 8,000 miles from now, why not have what you want.

Agreed, I don't know how many miles you put on a year but 8k miles and i would be needing to replace the tire before the end of this year or very latest next year. Might as well spend a couple extra bucks and replace it while you have the wheel off.
