psi altimax 205-65-15?
Does anyone ride the twisties with the altimax? and do you have low psi like 28-33? I went with friends who have sport tourers and love twisties. I had to go real slow on the 15-20 mph turns. BUT, i have 45lbs in my tire as i like it there normally. I assume with much lower psi I could have taken curves pretty well?

I use the same tire and run it 28-32 range and have no problems in the twisties. 45 psi will cause your tire to wear prematurely in the center leading to early replacement.

+1.....Lower your air pressure until you find the sweet spot to match your riding style. Of course as you become more comfortable with the car tire your pressure setting will change. I like slightly lower pressure for a bunch of tight twisties.

Is the reason putting psi for cars closer to sidewall indicated psi because cars are heavier and require more air? I assume. I put it down 10 lbs today and notice handle bars turn much quicker, more "flickable". I did not notice measuring that tread is uneven though after 5k miles. thanks Ron

Hud-new to the darkside
Finally made it- put an Altimax 195-65-15 on my 99 1100 shadow spirit. Feels great and handles really well, other than a little squirrley off-road.Cant put pics on, sorry-- its for real anyway. I run 33 lbs and havent yet tried other pressure, as it feels good there and drags pegs with no hint of slip.

As I'd posted elsewhere yesterday, I feel that it's totally wrong to use manuf. pressures. The sidewalls have a harder job keeping a car from wallowing than they do flexing for us to keep (half) the tread on the ground when we lean. This flexing won't occur at car pressures unless you're obese on a Leadwing with a fat gal. The lighter the load, the less pressure to maintain contact in the twisties.
I had a friend follow me and the wife, plus a shoe whitener stripe across the tread to determine contact area. We settled the Vredestein 175/70 in at 36 lbs., where I'd been running it at 35 lbs solo, so I'll assume 1 lb. extra takes care of a regular weight female. The stripe wears off of 90% of the tread width when running straight, which is the flat part of this tire.
Of course, if you feel any wallowing at all, increase pressure. Since you're on a softer compound, some lesser contact won't allow you to slip, but rather increase your resistance. But the "crossover" effect of the tire will increase in your handling, with higher pressures. My bike feels like a MT now, only much smoother and grippier.
