air pressure - shock settings - rear end bounce on sweeping curves
Still trying to dial in the correct psi/shock settings...
Just checking in with y'all... what would cause a "bouncing" feel from the rear end when you are taking a curve fairly aggressively...
I've got the 2003 1800 C... shocks have 32,000 miles on them... seems when I have 34-35 psi and shocks set on 3...there is bounce...as I raise the psi up, less bounce but ride is harder.
Is the bounce related to poor shocks ? psi ? both ? just asking...
Thanks...any help is appreciated.

I would check the shock bushings. When they start to wear out you wobbles, bouncing, and or drifting.

I installed nylon bushings and the ride and turns felt great.

I have just replaced my rear shock bushings with the stock ones. Where did you get the nylon bushings?? I don't think the stockers will last very long. Thanks greazman(Rich)

Good thing you replaced them at least, but you will have to do that again since you didn't go with Nylon ones. Since our hacker has erased a lot of our data or corrupted it so we can't even see it...I don't right of hand remember the part #. Sorry.

Bushings came in today. 1 question is there any side to side shimming that needs to be done or are the bushings a perfect fit ??? greazman(Rich)

I used a little WD40, a C clamp and lots of patience to seat them. Take your time start them straight and keep them straight.

Apparently Smokey and myself have the same kind of specialty tools in our tool box. This is how mine were installed. I have no problems but I also dont have the miles like Smoke.

I used the C clamp and a little penetrating oil method. Bushings slipped right in and had both shocks done in about 20 minutes. I do like the fit of the nylon bushings compared to the factory rubber ones. Thanks for the great advice. greazman(Rich)

Yes....Smokey's way is too technical for most to get! LOL I used my bench vise and they shoved right in and because of the vise, I think they went in really square so they went easier. Now....getting them on the bike after the bushing were installed was a different beast all together. I had to use a "persuader" like Smokey!
