Re: DD info
OK, bump and another question...I think i want to try out the Avon roadrider rear 150/40 V-17 on the front.
BUT, It's a bias tire, can I mix em? Running a Hankook on the back.
thanks, Craig

Re: DD info
I have had that tire on mine for 2-1/2 years. Have not rode it the last year due to working away from home, but fixin to get back on it pretty soon. It is a great tire. Took me about 500 miles to really break it in and feel comfortable with it. But that is probably just me and new things. Mounted it in regular rotation. Since it is a rear tire I used 3 OZ of dyna beads. No problems at all. My thoughts are you will be happy with it.

Re: DD info
Thanks Jerry, My buddy talked me into a Michelin Pilot 3, rear 150/70 17. He has an St 1300 and gets 22-24k on them. Figured I'd give it a try.

Re: DD info
WOW! What a disapointment...My DD is a failure...Getting ready to head south Saturday
and I check the front tire, pressure is 40, good, then i see wear bars on the left side...not good.
8,400 miles on a Michelin Road pilot 3. Got an Avon regular front tire shipping in tomorrow morning.
Leaving 7am saturday morning...no stress there...

Re: DD info
Yea, so the avon shipped to someone else...had to go to the local stealer and get a tire. Ended up with a Dunlop bias tire, on sale for $149. Then the guy says I can't run that tire cause the bike has a radial on back, so I'll have to buy the $330 radial.
Should have seen his face when I said it don't matter cause I have a car tire on back. He informs me that I can't run a car tire on that bike. Really?? I'm on my 3rd one... He had me sign a waiver about putting the bias tire on with a radial. I didn't give a flying f at that point. I was leaving for the Dragon at 7 the next morning.
As it turns out I'm pretty impressed with the Dunlop. Ran slab to Skyline Drive, no problems. Did the drive and the whole BRP to Robbinsville, NC with no issues. We also did the Cherohola twice, Foothills Parkway, 441 and Clingman's Dome, Joe Brown Highway by the Hiawassa Dam and Rt. 30, 319, and 68 into Tellico Plains, the Snake and the Back of the Dragon, along with the Dragon 7 times. On the way home we hit 219 and 250 in VA . Floorboards are gettin thin...
We did just over 3k miles in 7 days. No tickets, no rain and no one died...a great trip.
Guess I'll leave the Dunlop on and see what it gets for mileage...

Re: DD info
Well the Dunlop came off today. Left side looked like a baby's bottom. It went 6,100 miles. That's about a thousand more than the 880 went. And to be honest, I couldn't tell it was a bias tire. I rode it as hard, scraped as much as a radial up front. I had the Avon that shipped wrong before my trip so that's on now. The Cobra is what I've had the best mileage with in the past.
I'm thinking, in the future, why spend the bucks for a radial? If a cheap bias lasts as long and handles as good, I'll just go with that.
Oh well, that's my ramblings for today...
