Hope some of you 1300 guys can help me out. My buddy just bought an 04 1300c and asked me for some help with handlebars. He's about 5' 5" and has to lean forward to grab the bars. It has got the stock bars on it right now, and he wants to get in a more relaxed riding position. He wants to stick with t-bars, because it will be more cost effective for him at this moment. What kind of rise and pullback should we be looking for. I'm hoping some others about 5' 5" could give some suggestions. I'm not much help to him since I'm 6', I'm kinda cramped on his bike. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would try risers before I went with new bars but, I'm a cheapskate. Some have used a couple of sockets. here is a link to the VTXOA site on the subject. Socket riser mod

That was my first thought, but he has t-bars and the studs aren't long enough to put anything under the riser section of the bars. Since it is set up in this manner, getting new t-bars will be less expensive than getting new risers and bars. What I really need to do is swing by his house and take some measurements, but I won't have that oppertunity untill tomorrow evening because we work opposite shifts. Any information would be appreciated.

I have a set of CP Punishers on my C.
They have 8" of rise and 13" of pullback and position me so I can relax my arms and wrists.
I did switch to R/S model cables as they are about 2" longer.

If I had a C, I would also definitely go with the Punishers.
Play with some pvc pipes to do measuring, since stuff ain't cheap.

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been tryin to talk him into makin a mok-up to see what we need to do, but he doesn't see the sense in it. I'm gonna talk to him tomorrow about maybe cuttin the riser sections off his bars and goin with 6" or 8" risers with the bar section. I think that might just put the bars where we need them. Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Again, thanks for the advice.
