Went Darkside
Had a Michelin 205/65/16 HE put on my 2002 VTX 1800 Retro.
So far I'm loving the ride.
I've put on about 1,000 miles so far.
It's handled great through the twisted winding roads.
It's also handled great in the rain on the same roads.
Now for the problems. I'm getting a slight rubbing on the left side.
In order to install it, my mechanic had to do some grinding.
When I had a passenger ride with me, it took out the wiring for the tail light
and the odometer.
We raised the shocks which we're hopping eliminates that problem.
I couldn't be happier with the performance in the curves.
I have noticed some handling issues on uneven surfaces, such as gravel and rough
grooved pavement. I'm running 40# of pressure, am thinking of lowering that down
to 35 to see how that works.

Re: Went Darkside
Congrats on your darkside! Hey the darkside isn't perfect but neither is the motorcycle tire! LOL When you get the pressure to your riding style, it's going to be the bomb!

re went darkside
The lower pressure 34 to be exact calmed the uneven issues for me.

Re: Went Darkside
I'm going to try it @ 36# first for a bit, and if that's not good for me, I'll try it @ 34#. I'm sure that I'll dial it in.Larry Simpson wrote:The lower pressure 34 to be exact calmed the uneven issues for me.

Re: Went Darkside
I have tried from 27 psi to 41 psi. 30 to 35 is best for me and my style, which is pretty radical...LOL

Re: Went Darkside
I'm running it now at 35# psi and will for a bit. So far I'm happy with the results.
It did get rid of the intersection weave, and has handled the rough grooved pavement quite will.
Will keep informed.

Re: Went Darkside
I'm running @ 35# right now and it's handling quite well.
Took a 550 mile ride this past weekend in the rain, through lots of twisting roads,
with great results. Handled great, held the road fantastic. Kept having to slow down
to let the others with m/c tires catch up to me. Had lots of interest in the c/t.

No more Michelin
Had to replace the HE yesterday due to a tear in the cords from a screw.
Replaced it with a Goodyear triple thread 205/60/16R.
So far I like the ride. Will be giving it a workout today.
