Speedo/odo/trip not working

I have an 02 Shadow Spirit 750. The speedo/odo/trip has power but stopped logging miles. It didn't die instantly but slowly over time. It would work for a while then cut out. After two weeks of that it stopped working all together. I put a used sensor in about a year ago. I pulled the sensor off and the cable spins. Could the sensor have crapped out again? If not what else could be wrong?

Check your battery connections.

Like I said I have power, the speedo lights up and the numbers are displayed. It's just not measuring mph or logging miles.

Could be a gear thats missing a tooth or two, or a broken cable.

I have a digital speedo so it's not the cable. Any other thoughts?
