Tire pressure for Empty Tire pressure for

Post  MtBike Thu May 06, 2010 9:36 pm

I really wish there weas a database.....

I have VTX1300C
If I go with the Goodyear TT or the Michelin hydro edge 205-70-15, is the recommended pressure 34-36 psi... or is one tire different than the other?

Is there really a difference between these 2 tires? I like the Michelin name, and it is a less expensive tire, but I sure don't want to skimp on quality.....

Can anyone say anything about these 2 tires??

Thanks
MikeB.

I am running the Mich HE myself. For solo running I run it at 24 psi. 2 up at 35. You will have to find the pressure that suits you and your riding style best.

Good luck

WOW, never thought of pressure that low....

So with 24 psi, the tire wear is ok? no cupping or edge wear (like on cars)?

The lower psi, is the feel stable? What would you say is the diff in feel with the higher or lower psi?

Trust me...no cupping so far on any ones tires! The reason why there is NO cupping is because when you turn on a motorcycle the tire stays in the correct plain with the motorcycle and NOT like a car. In other words the car does NOT lean and the tires are in line with the direction turning and thus all the car's turning is in direct thrust and wear against the tire. Our car tires on the bikes stay in line with the bike and lean with the bike. So NO CUPPING ALLOWED HERE.............. Laughing Laughing Laughing

I think you will like the lower pressure. JMO I have ridden them both and like the slightly lower myself. The ride is really smoother and transitions from one turn to the next or smoother also with the lower pressure. Try all kinds of pressure to see which one fits your riding style.

Tire pressure for Empty Is there a diff between GYTT, and Michelin HE?

Is there a diff between GYTT, and Michelin HE?

These 2 tires have very similar treds. Michelin has a longer tread life and is less expensive. Why would one choose one over the other?? What should I be considering?

Its a personal preference due mostly to looks and or brand name.

I agree with MtBike - 24 psi seems extremely low.

I have 38 psi in front with my Metzeler 880 Marathon and 40 psi with Michigan HE on back, and wouldn't consider going any lower on both. If I do, the front tire "bobs" up and down. Is this normal? Is psi too high?

Stock weight on my 04 1300C is 648, always ride solo, my weight (ok guys no snickering now - 162 lbs.), have dozens of extras on bike (Cobra Dragster pipes, leather saddlebags, extra extra lights, like to fill my saddle bags full of emergency stuff, filled backpack, bring along extra helmet etc.).

Do you still recommend running at low psi rate?

Mags, I run 41 psi up front, and 24-35 in the rear depending on where I am riding and if 2 up. Thats just me. You know what makes your butt feel good Laughing Embarassed Razz Razz

Thanks Smokey. I had 42 up front and 41 in the rear, and somebody (I won't name names) said that that might be too high - and to ask the question in this forum. That felt perfect at these pressures. This morning I lowered the front to 38 and the back to 37.5 and was not pleased at all.

So, I will go back to 42/41!

I will PM with my information in just a bit. Thanks.
