I put this on VTXOA the other day and thought I would post it here too since there are some who may not be over there. Smile

===================================

I was at KFC a couple of weeks ago eating lunch. My bike was parked right in front of the door. As I finish eating I go to dump my trash, glance out at the bike - all is okay. So I sit back down to kill about 15 min. before heading back to work. I pull out my iPhone and start playing a game to kill the time. After about 5 min. the Sheriff who had been eating walks out then walks back in (along with the Armored Truck delivery person) asking "Who owns a bike?"

I stand up and look out and my bike is on it's right side. The Armored Truck person says, "I guess it fell over???" I tell her, (with rather agitated vocal intonations) "NO! IT DID NOT JUST FALL OVER!!! That's 750 lbs. dry weight and this is the opposite side of the kick stand. IT DOESN'T F-A-L-L over."

She sheepishly says, I'm sorry but I've got to go. So she climbs in the back of the truck and the drive pulls away.

The sheriff offers to call the police but adding that it was out of his jurisdiction and could not personally do anything. The main damage was the hand grip was banged up and a small mark on the rear fender that can be buffed out. I was just ticked at the fact that someone hit my bike and just left. They HAD to know they hit me. So I declined calling the police knowing that my deductible would cost more than just replacing the grips.

After I get back to work it's still eating at me. So I call KFC and ask if they had security cameras. Low and behold they did. So I cal LE and ask them how I can go about obtaining access to KFC's security tapes. I tell them what happened and they tell me they will get back with me soon.

About an hour later I get a call from LE and the officer says, "I know who hit you!"

"YOU DO???" I ask.

"Yep! Was there a red and black Armored Truck there when you were there?"

"You're kidding? Yes! There was."

"Well, that's who hit you. There is no way he did not know he hit you."

Long story sort, they attached a hit-n-run to the truck (or driver, I never found out which). Either way, no doubt he lost his job and was arrested.

I called my insurance and they sent me a check for $3,500.00. The adjuster said, "If it is scratched, it's replaced." VENDICATION!

So my bike is in the shop now getting a tune up, and grips replaced (I decided to let them do that one item). Also getting front turn signals put on (bought the bike used and it did not have turn signals). I have also ordered a few other accessories that are currently the way which will be put on the bike as soon as I get it back.

After the tune up, I take it to the paint shop for a new paint job. I will have about $2,500.00 to play with.

So......... how about some suggestions (along with pics)?! I don't want to go over the $2,500.00 but def. want to spend more than the $1,600.00 alloted by the Ins. company for a better pain job. I have something in mind but would like to see some options.

Contact BD from BDCycles. He is a sponsor of the VTXOA board. He already has tins and is good. Twin1300 on here is pretty handy with an airbrush but he wont do work for anyone else. Selfish Bastage.

I like both girls, although a bit blond.
$2500 for a paintjob? Wow.
I would buy a can of grey primer and a black one. 12 box.
With the rest I would buy me some tickets for a trip to the US to ride!
Thx. for the story, good thinking about the camera's.

Hey, he wanted ideas....

I showed it to the "boss" and she nixed it. LOL! Although below is what I am seriously thinking about, not exactly, but a variation of it, yet similar. I just got the valves adjusted, grips and pedals replaced so the paint job is next. Supposed to rain all this next week so I may try to get it in if possible, since I won't be riding much anyway.
