Thanks for all the info
I just wanted to say thank you guys for all the information here. I have the 06 VTX 1300C, and by saterday afternoon, or possibly tuesday. I will have my new VTX 1800 final drive installed and a brand new 205/65/15 General Altimax HP . I was going for the grabber that is recomended here but The sales guy at the tire place, after calling around looking for one, told me that they are discontinuing that model. So I picked out the altimax, I like the tread pattern especially here in florida where it rains alot. I will be posting more after it is mounted and letting everyone know how it rides.
Re: Thanks for all the info
Looking forward to hearing the rest of the story.

Good choice and good looking tire. Post some pics of the back of your bike when you get a chance. A full ride report is expected too!

Re: Thanks for all the info
Of course a full report will be written, I would expect nothing less. Besides it drives me crazy when someone says I am doing this or trying this and then drops off the face of the earth. A cool mod that grabs everyones attention a few pics but than no write up if it worked. I will mention this though, after this goes on and I check for clearance I will be looking for shorter shocks I liked the lowerd look. But we will see....
Re: Thanks for all the info
Well here it is, 205/65/15 on a 1300C , I also did the final drive swap with a 1800. The differance is night and day. I love it. I will have ot get used to the ride but that should not take long. I am a little messed up on the VTX since I just rode my Hurricaine 1000 this afternoon. But so far so good. I will be taking it out later tonight and a good ride tommorow. Thanks for all the info. Now to find lower shocks and raked trees

Thanks for the complements, it is a bit different than what I am used to riding. This is the last cruiser bike I had 78 CB 750 and this is what I also ride 87 Honda Hurricaine

Looks like 3 totally different riding styles. Great to have options on what you ride, depending on the mood......

Re: Thanks for all the info
Ok I now have a small problem. I instsalled a tornmado air kit but I think I lost my A/F screw. It dies the second I remove glens tool from the carb. I have not had a chance to really look at it since Igot dark yesterday so I will do that tonight.
But here is an update and a question. First of all the tire I installed is great so far, no problems and I don't even thing about it anymore. I ride over draw bridges back and forth to work and it used to get wiggly, now i don't have a problem nice and strait.
the question i want to lower the rear end, I was thinking 11 inch shocks, that should give me enough space for two up riding. although I don't do it often. But there are some 10.5 on ebay, will this be to low and rub? Also I kinda like the shock covers on the stock vtx shocks. I know there are people who cut them for a good price but I want to get a replacement stock set just incase I need to go back.

1. You can get a good screw from Hick.... A/F screw that is... http://www.hickmachine.com
Don't forget you might have to the spring washer and O-ring that goes on the screw. Hdl sells as a set for about $7.
2. Glad the tire is working so well.
3. 11 " has been used before with no problems. I have heard of 10.5 being used but by people that ride 1 up all the time. I'm sure if there are others out there they will chime in. Pony will sell you what ever you need at a reasonable price and he does good work... http://www.crapmods4u.com

Re: Thanks for all the info
Well I broke down and orded the screw assambly from my dealer here before I left work. I figured I was riding when i'd went bad so I am never going to find it. I get off work 1 1/2 late ( boss forgot he had to come in, and ) I thought well I might as well stop and get anouther set of toenail clippers so I can trim a litle more for the scar mod. Got home and walked down the yard, up to the main street looking just in case. I could not find it. So I figured I would get out the mirror just to make sure it fell ou, yep it is gone. But as I was remembering about a reply and it being in the jusg I looked really hard and guess what? There it was sitting all the way in the back, complete!!! And I also found my vacume clip that I lost and I also found my 8mm socket I could not find, I have at leat 5 of them but can never find them. I was using a 5/16 for the plate valve. And ! And I found my toe clippers!! Maybe I should play the lottery tonight..
