Final drive pulley's

Hello to all !;

I don't have a clue as to where to post this question, so I'm gonna try it here.

Does anybody know of a company that sells final drive pulleys for my Kawasaki
Vulcan 2000 that are reduced down to 70 teeth from the stock 72 teeth ?
No, I do not want nor can I use an enlarged front pulley.

I have sent requests to "Scootworks" and they tell me "We're working on it"
(since last october)
I have also tried "4X4Tuff" and they don't have them either
(contrary to their website, they did however try to convince me to a front pulley)

So,, any info you might share would be greatly appreciated.

Can I ask why your against going bigger up front?
Only going up/down 2 teeth out back will not change it(rpm) much, I can make more of a change than that with a taller/shorter tire out back on my bike(VT1100-T). With the power of the V2000 and where it(rpm) makes that power I would make a bigger change to the final drive. You have a torque monster you just need a better final drive to take advantage of all that TQ.

The reason I can not go any bigger up front is because of a clearance issue.
You see,
My bike sports a Micheline Hydroedge size 205/60/16 on it, which
after long winter months last year of crunching numbers and tests is the
largest tire that I have tested and feel safest with that will fit with good
clearance on the sidewalls and acceptable fender height clearance.

My problem is the tire tread rides very close to the a steel cross bar.

I am not a small rider and at times can bottom out.
I have approx 1/4 of an inch between the tire surface and this steel bar.

Moving to a larger pulley on the front would force me to move the tire
closer due to the larger pulley and quickly reduce this marginal clearance
that I have now to something that would near constantly rub and become
unride able due to the missing 1/4 inch clearance.

Mounting this tire has corrected the stock speedo error from an initial 10%
down to an almost acceptable 4% a smaller rear pulley would do a couple
of things;
A) correct my speedo to almost perfect road speed match
B) lower my engine speed, raise my road speed

But most importantly,next to the primary reason,,,

C) enlarge the clearance from 1/4 inch by allowing me to pull the wheel a little
bit further back by using a slightly smaller rear pulley at the back

Don't know about the Kawasaki's, but the Yamaha Strats can use a Harley pulley with simple mods. If possible... see if the bolt pattern and spread on your Kawi pulley is the same as a HD. If it is... the world will open up to any number of possibility's. HD pulleys can be bought at local swap meets and on e-bay rather cheap.

Sorry for my tardiness   but I wanted to try it out well before posting.

I received my 70 tooth pulley (stock was 72) finally from Scootworks.
Great machining job, looks great and runs true !!  

Mounted on rim and mounted wheel back on bike   .

1st thing I noticed was a much more corrected, accurate speedo reading.
My stock speedo reading with original MT was almost 20 km/h too fast/high  
When I changed to my first CT the speedo came down a bit to about 12-15 km/h too fast/high  
When I changed to my present CT the speedo came down a bit more to about 8-12 km/h too fast/high  
Now with my 70 tooth pulley on the rear my speedo is only about 2-5 km/h too fast/high  

Yes, still not 100 % accurate but it's a lot more accurate then where it has been as I figure of the
last several years riding the bike with the stock readings I have probably added about 1000 km's
or more to the odo that really wasn't ridden  

One issue (and only one)that I have now that I didn't before the pulley install is clearance under heavy load.
As with the tire/wheel being pulled a little further back it now comes very close to the tail light mount on
the inside of the fender and does "bottom" out under heavy loads   that normally would not have
affected it before.  

One good issue of note   is that with the slightly smaller pulley installed the engine revs are
slightly reduced at highway speeds (yes, a little faster speed   is available to me at the other end
of the throttle) and I seem to be getting the same gas mileage as before but I know now that it's a truer
reading as before when my friends and I rode out and as we all would stop for fuel my reading is now a lot
closer to theirs then the previous 20 km's extra on a 100 km ride.

I am happy though with the workmanship from Scootworks they know their shiat   , but !!        
if your going to look them up for a similar "object d'art" remember they
might be  a w f u l l y ,  p a i n f u l l y ,  m o n o t o n o u s l y  s l o w.

Yes I understand the concept of small batch orders. Doesn't mean I have to like it.
Yes I know I could have purchased a speedo electronic device and installed it inline, but where would the fun be in that
