Michilin Alpine
I have read a lot of good comments about the Michilin Primacy Alpin. I was just wondering why a winter tire? I am going to go to the Dark as soon as my E-3 wears out (12500 on it now and has about another 3K left) and I probable go with the Michilin unless someone finds a better tire. But why the winter tire? Thanks Papa Smurf

Re: Michilin Alpine
A winter tire is a softer compound for traction so you won't get the mileage you would get with a regular tire.

Re: Michilin Alpine
The winter tire has more tread depth to begin with, I think an extra 1/32 of tread. Most are getting around 18k out of this tire, some better than 20. Life of tire depends on your riding style of course. It is also a run flat which is another plus. Tire rides great new but even better as you put miles on it. I am on my second one and have another waiting in the garage.
Look at the pic in this link. That pic is the Michelin I took off.
