Ok I know I gotta use a toothpick or something like that not to scuff those 4 little nut covers. What about taking off the grips? I tried the OB garage but the video links have been removed. Can I reuse my grips until I buy new ones? Or should I just buy new ones before I get started? Any tips on somehow marking original bar position and getting the new one set the same?

I know I need to put a blanket on the tank to protect it. Any other pointers or ideas?

I really dont know what I'm getting into and I would like as much information as possible before I get into something. I dont want to make a major screw-up. Evil or Very Mad

Thanks

Muntz
I have never reused grips after removing them. Not sure if you can. Glad to hear that you are getting the bake back to riding condition. Maybe then we can get a ride in. I am sure that Twin will ring in soon. There are too many people that do know and will give the right information. Curious to know myself.

Happy repairs.

Kermit,
Thanks for the instructions. I didnt know the endcaps unscrewed.

Moon,
Looks like from kermits instructions that they could be reused.

Got my Throttle side grip off, using the cam-lock instruction. Didn't really have too many problems except close to the end of the grip (by the switch cover) Tore the rubber out a little. I siliconed it back together and am waiting for it to dry a little and see if it's going to work. Don't forsee any problems. It wasn't as easy as the instructions try to make it sound. Might have been easier had I had an extra set of hands though.

Yeah I got them off using your instructions. Just my throttle endcap was damaged in my accident.

If you use golf grip tape to install the kury grips, you can get them off by taking the end cap off and squirting some lighter fluid up into the grip. This probably ain't to helpful at the moment, but for future reference, golf tape is better than death grip glue as far as reusing grips goes.
