I am wanting to switch with my 2001 800A. The current tire size is 140/90 16. I can't seem to find that on a conversion chart and the 175/75 16 seems a little large. I have not one though so I do not know. Does anyone here know of one that will fit? It is almost time for me to seal the rims and put on a new tire so I want to go Darkside soon.
Thanks!

A 140 rear tire....wow! That's small and being a 16" rim is going to be tough!

I am riding a '96 A model , I've put a comtrac 175/75/16 on and it fit ,with the exception of the tag bracket I spaced 3/4 down rubbed a little on the left side. hoping a fender from a B model will not cause any issues. Crank up the preload on the non lowered rear shock . Altogether now got about 500 mi. on it . Still looking for the sweet spot, I am at 36 psi. "Still checking."
How about looking at coker tires. or maybe hankook . Don't you know I fried the starter two weeks ago . So I am dead in the garage. Painting and wiring new tail lights and custom tag
bracket under the B fender . It should be sweet . Here's hopin. Spend the doe for a good battery before it's to late. ie if it seems weak ,replace it! silent
Aint I a rambling on fool .

Thanks papasurf. I have a custom turn signal/plate bracket already. I made one out of diamond plate a couple months ago so my bag mounts would fit. Oh, and about the battery, I put in a lithium Ballistic Performance battery about the same time and have a spare agm in the garage. Thanks for the info on the tire. I am looking for one to buy now. Those are hard to find. I found 175/80 16 tires but not 175/75 16. Any tip on where I can find one? Did you seal your rim or did you put in another tube? I'm planning on sealing when I do it.
Thanks again for all of the info!

Strykker, The tire came from I'm thinking discount tire something or other in Traverse City Michigan ? $153. The 175/80/16 could work I suppose .
For sure tighter than a 75 . I go about 190 lbs. plus bags and lunchbox and have rubbed on some hard hits with the preload maxed out . I am thinking about a new rear shock.
I am about done redoing the wiring harness for the B fender/lights . Starter due back Friday after work. I can't wait to get back onto the ride.

I did try to seal the rim with 3M 5200 , let cure for a week. Was really hoping it would work. Then got one side on the rim and found a real mess from it not curing ,OH boy. javascript:emoticonp('banghd')Cleaned that up and decided to go with a tube.
Getting that done was a bit of an ordeal . But the local hd dealer got 'er done . oucchh
I do like it mostly ,but must admit I still am not 1000% yet. will keep on racking up the miles. At the end of June I'm doing a roadtrip to the White Mtns. 6-700 miles Should be great! banghd banghd

Thanks for the info. That was a lot of good stuff there. I guess I will look more at a shorter tire. I'm going to do some measuring on the sides for clearance and see how wide I can go. I wonder how wide the rim will take....
