Re: carb jetting
Mike, I know sh.. about all this, but new pipes are installed on my bike and I will
order an aftermarket air intake kit.
As far as I read you need to give more info in order to get an answer I think,
like which pipes you have and which intake.
Don't shoot me if I'm wrong.
Good Luck, Robert.

Re: carb jetting
Typically unless you change the airbox there is no need to rejet just for pipies. But always start a rejet with the air/fuel mixture screw out 2 1/2 turns
See you out there

Smokey is dead on. When I changed pipes on my old 1300 and the air box was stock, I didn't have to change anything on the carb. When I opened up the air box to let more air in then I had to back the screw out. Keep checking your plugs and when they are a nice "paper sack" brown ... you are there! If they are white you are lean .... black and you are too rich.

Re: carb jetting
Spark plug color 'can' give an indication of correct air/fuel mixture, but not the way most people think. If you simply pull the plugs and look at them, the color of the plug is in no way an indication of correct mixture.
To use this method, you would have to run bike until it's up to operation temps, replace plugs with brand new ones, get up to highway speeds for a few miles and shut off engine without slowing down and coast to a stop. Then pull plugs and you will get some indications as to air/fuel mixture. Even if you put in new plugs, take it out for a ride, come back to garage and check them, you have done nothing by waste some time.
The only way to really get an idea is a sampling of exhaust with a air/fuel sensor. Many dynamometers setups have this sensor and can give you the air/fuel mixture throughout the entire RPM range.
