Gl1000 tips
I ride a 1977 GL1000 sidecar rig and am seriously considering going darkside.
Any advice on what works and what doesn't on a GL1000?
I'm in the beginning stages of a leading link conversion so now is the time to make (or at least plan) for darksiding.
I'm pretty clueless here, tire choice, wheel sizes, I need help on it all!
Thanks!
Chuck

Re: Gl1000 tips
From what I have read you first need a tubeless rim, I don't remember if the Lester mags were tubeless for those or if there is any other available to fit the GL1000. I'm new also, have a GL1500 and getting a tall enough tire is proving hard. M/C Ts don't hold up long on it.

Re: Gl1000 tips
I run my tires tubeless on the lester wheels. A lot of people also run tubeless on the comstars.

Avon Turbosteel 165HR16 Tire
There is a tire at Universal Vintage Tire Co., it is the Avon Turbosteel 165HR16.
This is the tire I am trying on my GL1000 79 model
It is not cheap at $300.00 but the MC tires aren't either when I wear them out every time I turn around.
Also the wieght rating is a lot safer.
I have not mounted the tire on the bike yet, when I do I will get back here.
I cannot post a link as I am a newbie here, Sorry...
