Post  Minnesota Darkside Fri Apr 09, 2010 4:08 pm

Hi Folks, The weather here in Minnesota is starting to get nice and I would like to come over to the Darkside. I have a 2006 VTX 1300C. I have a question for some of you veteran Darksiders before I purchase my tire . What is the difference between the 205 65 15 and the 205 70 15. Is the 70 taller and by how much ? Should I go with the 65 or the 70 ?

I have been viewing some of your pictures and the bikes look great on the Darkside !

Thanks for your help !

The 70 raises the bike about 1/2", lowers the top end RPM's by a couple hundred, and has a narrower bead width so it seats easier.........JMHO

Unka Jer got it right. There are a lot of tires this size that fit the bill too. The Good Year Triple Tread is one of the most popular and is proven too. Check around and find one you like. Let us know how it goes. Pics go a long way around here too. Hint, hint.

Just wanted to add my welcome to you and Uncle Jerry has the 1/2" right on the button.
as far as the tire that will be best, it is up to you, as for style and looks,
and as far as how it rides a lot has to do with the shock settings ,weather you have put new shock bushings and tire pressure .
it's good to have new members so welcome again.

Thanks for all your your help guys. I have seen the pix and The Darside looks great! Will my bike still handle well in the turns? You know like when you go into a 45 MPH corner and come out the other end going 80 ?

Thanks,Dan

Which Size is best for my bike Empty VTX 1300 C

Post  Minnesota Darkside Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:19 pm

The only reason I asked about the handling is because I told a fellow bike rider at work today that I was going to get a CT for my bike because they look great. He got a real sour look on his face like he thought I was strange or something and said, "that thing won't corner worth a damn"!

I know that he does not know this for sure so I thought I would ask the experts.

I much appreciate your help and welcome to the Darkside , Dan

I have heard the same thing from people about them not handling. just have their candy ass follow you through your favorite set of twisties after you get it on and a few miles to get used to it. I ride with a couple sport bikes that dont trust their rigs like I do mine. Throw it in there and drag the hard parts. To quote Acy (twin1300's twin) Tell em you plan to stop at every corner and curve and pick the ass end up and point it in the right direction. Rolling Eyes

You will hear people tell you that forever. And it will always be from people that have never tried it.

Just remember to take it easy the first couple hundred miles. You gotta get them a little scuffed up before you push them.

horseman8m - Hello fellow PGR member. Do you know Moonshine in Georgia? She is a pen pal to a WWII Veteran here in Michigan. We helped him celebrate his 91st birthday last year.
