Re: Howdy boys
Bobby,
I see from your signature line,
you're in Christ's service.
Do you ride with a MM?
I'm VP of chapter 58 of Road Riders for Jesus myself.
We have a facebook page.
I was just wondering if you ride with anyone.

Re: Howdy boys
Well, I’ve got over 600 miles on my Riken Raptor 225/55 ZR CT and I’m happy.
This is my third tire after7800 miles.
The first one was on steel belts after 3500, the second one lasted longer as I increased psi slightly and rode a little easier.
I did my research for many months, and could only find theories about why it is not a good idea, compared to no reported negative incidents, and glowing testimonials from the users. As we all will tell you, it is not for everyone, (kind of like rack and pinion steering on a cage is not for everyone).
It felt squirrely the first 50 miles, I’m thinking because of the new rubber.
I haven’t drug the pegs yet, but have drug my heel on the right side.
Most of the time it is flat out better handling than a MCT, I don’t see how anyone could disagree.
Wet roads and straight-aways with irregular road surface just plain better.
The rest of the time it is different, but easy to get used to. A lot easier than running that bald MCT the last 500 miles.
BTW, I stopped by my dealer to talk about the 10k maintenance, and he showed me a Rocket with 6,500 miles on the first tire, and lots of mileage left. It’s an ’05, and all of the wear is in the center. If the rider leaned into any curves he was riding on marshmallows.
My checkup/service will cost me $120 ~ $250 (if the valves need adjustment). There are some advantages to living in the Appalachians.
Tim at Windber Triumph keeps me happy.

On a different note, I’ve been doing a lot of riding with EXO heated vest and stock heated grips, and the battery failed me the other day.
Temps hadn’t dropped below freezing, so I wasn’t using the battery tender at night, a mistake.
Getting the Odyssey PC625 so I don’t have to worry. 17f last night.
After 5 months and over 8000 miles and I’m still thrilled with my Rocket. Too much fun!

Re: Howdy boys
Glad to see ya BeHereNow,
Yea that Raptor is quite a tire ain't it.
Seems like the wetter it is,
the better it likes it.
At 35 psi it rode like a tank,
but dropped it down a little bit and son,
it handles like a dream now.
I won't be going back,
neither will the wife.

Re: Howdy boys
Yes, I took your advice and started out at 30 psi and like it just fine.
I'm glad to see this forum is friendlier than the one on the LEEward side. They've got a real attitude.
I've got a slooping driveway, gravel, with snow on top. Any idea how the Raptor would do in an inch or two of snow? The rosds are just fine if I can get in and out of the driveway.

Raptor should do ok in the snow, haven't got the chance to try it out in that yet though.
It's the front I'd worry about sliding around on it.
Slow and easy till you hit the road.
Good tread on the raptor so I'd say it could handle a little snow with ease.
Let us know, and good luck.
