Wow, I'm kinda glad this is the only motorcycle forum I use. Some of those guys on the VTX forums are 'genuinely concerned' for the safety of anybody running a car tire.

What is the significance of reversing the direction of a rear motorcycle tire for the front? It seems like that would cause the tire to channel water inward, instead of outward. I don't understand why you wouldn't just mount the tire in the same direction regardless of where it's mounted.

Olds, I'm not into tech stuff at all, in fact I do not know enough of my bike, so
I don't get it either. What I read is that they turn the direction due to the braking ability ?!?
I definitely would like to know, since I want to try out a CT in front also.

I have a Pirelli sport demon rear tire on the front of my ACE, standard rotation. I love it, it corners great, it brakes great, guess what my next front tire will be. Another back tire.

First time I've read anything on that board in over 6 months...Same old chit now that it was then...Somebody has a legitimate question, and a fight starts, pretty much ignoring the original question...Now I know why I don't post on that forum.... Rolling Eyes

The reason is the way the belts are put in the tire. The rear tire gets all the pressure when accellerating. Thr front tire gets all the pressure when decellerating. So you turn the tire around to keep the belts from seperating under heavy braking.
Hope this helps.

That makes good sense, but I was hoping there would be a whole lot of controversy in your answer and that it would turn into an argument about something totally unrelated Laughing

Ease up kids.
Ha ha . Pretty childish if you ask me. Yes I did see that and even read the coments to the end. The Nay-sayers really push there opinions. There is even one on there that is a member on this site that has caused problems. He has toned it down some over the last month and has not called anyone names.

There is not much for me overthere these days. I had a question a while ago and just PMed Spike and Bareass. Got a real answer and good information within the hour. The rest of them donno. Altho there is one other that I call if things get weird. Twin 1300. He is good to call when in a bind.

Thx. Jerry, this is helping me . . . . . . . NOT Wink No
So the choice is either to float when there’s a lot of rain, or
the chance the belt will seperate under heavy braking.
confused
Think I’ll just go for a DS in the front. Smile
