Re: My new GYTT 205/60/16
I absolutely hated the tire when I first got on the bike but then again I had about 6' to turn around out of the shop and it wasn't pretty. It took me about 80 miles before I got a feel for it. Now the only thing I have a problem w/ is how squirrely the frond end seems to be. I plan on adjusting the tire pressure to hopefully eliminate that. I will not be going back to a mc tire.
BTW- didn’t you guys offer milk & cookies?

GYTT won't fit?
Can anyone Help????
Bought my TT 205/55/16, sent it off to have it install yesterday (yeah!!) Got a call from the mechanic telling me it won't fit!! I have a 2005-1800N with progressive 440 shocks. He said he had to remove the final drive to get the tire up in, and that there's only about 1/8000" (thickness of a hair)clearance between the tire and the shaft cover. Proceeded to the tell me that he highly recommends I do NOT put a CT on there. I told him I "appreciate" his opinion but I'd like to do it anyway. HE says it won't fix, but that if I insist on putting a CT on it, he can get me a smaller one. a 185 or something.
Wild Horse, I see that you have the same bike and tire ( although yours is a 60) do you have progressive shocks also? I mean can that make that much of a difference??? Hubby called a friend (Spud) we talked about it, and decided to tell the mechanic if the wheel will roll to just put it on and we'll pick it up. Mechanic says the wheel is off right now.. Told him to just put my Avon back on and we'll be down to pick it up this afternoon.
Opinions anyone? Thanks for listening! lol

Re: My new GYTT 205/60/16
everyone knows my opinion, get a draft and a hammer:: see horseman mod:
https://mcdarksiders.forumotion.com/vtx-1300-tech-f11/horseman-swingarm-mod-215-t1137.htm
just not as deep just about 1/8 " dish and you ready to go, once the wheel is off it would take 5min.

Re: My new GYTT 205/60/16
My tire had to be deflated before install & you can fit a cc between everything but it doesn't rub. Since you can't really see that much of the tire I'd suggest going w/ the 205/60; no mods whatsoever were done. I have Progressive 412 shocks. Please let me know if you need anything else; I'll help however I can.
RE GYTT WON'T FIT
It will make that much difference, the 60 and 55 is the height of the sidewall but the width also increases when you shorten the height,Like wildhorse said ,you can install without taking final off if you deflate the tire ,been there done that on 1300,nomad and 1800. Re: My new GYTT 205/60/16
Horsman8m, thanks for the link.. I am printing out the directions as I type.
Wild Horse, I am thinking that is exactly what we should have done, deflate the tire. actually we should have just let the shop mount the tire and then did it ourselves. Although hubby can install an exhaust system in an RV, he wasn't as sure about the Bike tire. LOL PIcking it up this afternoon, I will let you know how we make out.
Larry,, appreciate you taking the time to respond as well. I guess I didn't think that going lower on the tire height would add to the width, refresher course in math coming up! lol
Spud was right.. this is a GREAT place!!
Will post up when we get to the darkside.. and I WILL get there! ha ha
Thanks again,
Deb
