Question for the Patriot Guard Riders Empty Question for the Patriot Guard Riders

Post  Doc Rogers Wed Jul 29, 2009 10:00 am

I know several of you are Patriot Guard and I think I might be... that is my question... is there any more to it than just signing up on the web-site and then showing-up to rides? (I mean any more to becoming a PGR).

The reason I ask is because a buddy asked me to ride in a Missing in America project ride several months back. The general consensus was you needed to be sponsored and that all of the Patriot Guard were vets.

I am a Vet and just recently joined the American Legion, and I also signed up for my username at the Patriot guard site. So, again the question is: Is there anything official that needs to be done? The web site seems to indicate anyone can be a PGR, weather the ride or not and weather they are a Vet or not.

If this is the case then I have a lot more buddies that want to be PGR's and are just the type I would want escorting my casket.

ANYONE, can become a PGR member, you don't even have to have a scoot to join. I've known several people who are member who won't even consider hoppinh on a scoot, but they show their support every day as often as they can. Says a lot about the PGR when you have members like that.

Check your state board and ask for patriot gaurd members. Our State VP is a VTX rider and he keeps the VTXers updated on upcoming rides on the VTXOA. I also get emails from PGR. There is a place on there for contacting the state chairman and letting him know you are on board and want to get mission updates via email.

Thanks for the Support,

Be sure to shoot your state captain an email so when a mission comes up you will be notified via email. Thanks for the service and the support.
