another NEW old guy from St. Louis 62 years old.....
I'm still lurking trying to find out as much as possible before making the change. I'm tired of paying 200+ for an 880 Metz every 8k miles. I have a VTX 1800C.
I stopped in a local tire shop today and looked at the Falken ZE329 205-60-16 V rated tire. It looks like it has a somewhat rounded shoulder, fairly soft compound, and the price is right. I have looked at the Michelan Hydroedge but was told it was being discontinued. I haven't looked at the Goodyear yet. The guys with the Falken were refreshing in that they didn't tell me they didn't sell car tires for MC (I have actually been told that).
Looking at my tires after my ride to/from Sturgis last summer and it is flat on the center (like a car tire).
Anyway, I'm listening to you guys to help me make my decision.

Welcome!
My .02... steer in another direction than the Falkens... they seem to have a flimsier sidewall and have been causing problems for some. Seems to be the only tire gathering any type of complaint.... just what I have gathered...
good luck with the decision!

For a first timer, my advice would be to go with a tried and true tire. For your bike your choices are
Hydroedge, Potenza, Triple Tread, and the General Grabber.
There are other tires, but lot's of folks have had success with the above 4.

Welcome Xrider 1.
Take some time to find a store where you can choose.
I just changed from tire and took more time to choose one as I did the first time,
like it is with women I guess.
Just compare and you'll see that there are a lot of differences.
My new tire corners much easier which is very important for me, since our island
is just 45 miles long and max 10 miles wide.
Good Luck, what ever you choose, it will be the right choice.
