Be brutally honest with me. What do you think of this tire for my 1st wideside. It's a 205/65R15 (I can't remember the name), but I paid 64.00 out the door at Discount tire. I'm still thinking I may take it back and get the goodyear tripletread. But tell me what you think.

That will throw the water out like crazy. No way to ever hydro plane with that.
What is the bead width? Going over 5" will make it a lot harder to mount.

Besides possible difficulty mounting, do you see any downsides. Do you think it'll throw the water up too high. I had a yamaha once that had the short fender and when it rained, I got a wet streak up my back. Shocked

At 4.5" you shouldn't have any trouble mounting it.
If your not getting a wet back now you shouldn't with the new tire. It is a little over an inch and a half wider, but it will still fit under your fender.
I'm sure Twin will chime in. He has a C model with a 205.

MC tires tend to make better rooster tails because the all the water is slung to the center of the tire because it is round. I have a 205-70 grabber on my C, it spreads the water out and does not throw much of a tail in the rain. so i have been told by my fellow riders.

the tire in the pic looks like it may end up having a nice roundish profile with that gap in the middle. i would like to see pics of it on the bike.

the cool thing about the C is that alot of that big tire is exposed:twisted:

Go for it Kermit! Awesome looking tire! There is a reason why you are our Queen! If it's 4 1/2" wide, it should go on fine unless the rubber is exceptionally soft! I like that tire, I wouldn't be scared of running it! Let us know how it comes out!

I talked to Foghorn today....Go for it!

Somebody show me the picture we use to post a long time ago with somebody measuring the bead to bead of the darkside. I need reassurance that this is going to fit. Gosh, in the trunk of my car it looks huge. Shocked . I don't get home from Dallas until Monday, that being a weeknight and hard to get foghorn motivated to help me get it on and have to be back in Dallas Wednesday. Plus I have a stereo to mount. Gonna be a quick 2 days home. Dang, I'm sure my Christmas tree is still up and I gotta do that too.

Please somebody, show me the measurement, so I don't run and exchange this tire for something I know will work.

I had a tire that looked like that, a zeus, that we couldn't get to seat. The zeus looked great and had really high specs. Just couldn't get the bead to seat...and we tried everthing.

Does the tire have a make and model printed on it?

Yes, it has the make and model printed on it. Don't make me go out to my car in my pajamas. I think I'm going to take the tire by on the way to work and trade it for a Goodyear Tripletread Assurance. As much as I like this tire, I don't love it enough to fight with it and fail. Changing these things out is a pia enough that I only want to do it if I'm pretty assured it's going to work. Thanks guys. Neutral

I didn't have any luck mounting the zeus. Good looking tire. But I'd go with the Potenza or Triple tread. More tried and true. Take a look at the barum bavarus when you are in discount tire. Good looking tire. Never tried it, but think I might when (if) my current tire wears out.

LOL, it was the Barum Bavarus tire that I had. $64.00 out the door. I took it back because after reading Bobbys post, I got to looking at the tire and the sidewalls are really soft, almost like a bicycle tire. Anyway, I ended up with the Goodyear Tripletread Assurance. I'll mount it and probably love it. The barum was very tempting. Try it and let us know. Very Happy

The tripletread is on. Took Inspector about 10 times to get it to seat and had to use 120 lbs of pressure. I rode it home and man oh man, what a difference. I love it. I'm ready for the darkside rally. Very Happy foghorn and Inspector want one now. Wink

Yeah, I know. I have to leave town again today and won't be home til Saturday. Have to babysit grandkids saturday evening so I won't get to ride til sunday. I'll know more then. I'll try to get some pictures today before leave and post them. This is sure a pretty tire. I was debating between a General Grabber and this one and I think I would have been happy with the Grabber as well, but this baby rocks. I'll get some pictures. How long for the mold to release? I think I read 300 miles. I may get that Sunday, I'll have to see the weather. Very Happy

Unless you do a burn out or spin the tire on a gravel road. 300 would probably be about right. From all I hear you can ride that bike. So you will instinctively know how hard you can push it.

I've got the 205 douglas on right now. I'd like to see how many miles I can put on it, but may die of old age before then. I'll probably change tires this summer - just for the heck of it. My douglas is a great tire, but I want something a little more showing. I'll probably go for the Barum Bavarus 195 but the Potenza and Triple tread are tempting!

Congratulations on going wideside. Let us know how you like it. Take it through some sweeps and twisties there in the piney woods - we expect a full report! Very Happy

Steve, when the weather warms up a little, we'll make a trip to dallas and you can see it in real life. I spend most of my life in Garland anyway (I work ther), I just don't bring the bike that often. But, Steve and I would love to meet and have coffee and swap views of eyecandy.
