What do you do at work?
Well, here are some samples of stuff I do at work, not the coolest, but it pays the bills for now. I mostly work on oilfield stuff but occasionally I get a break and have some fun. One day I may be machining on a 35,000lb chunk of steel and the next a piece of aluminum that fits into my pocket.
So, a few. The first is a couple of oil tank bungs I made for one of the local custom bike builders. They are made from 6061 aluminum and polish up nicely (they were just as cut here, before polishing).
Working on the hub for a 40" ring gear drive assembly on a rotary table.
Our smallest lathe has a 10" chuck, and our biggest has a 10' chuck (yes, ten FEET!) we have mills ranging from a 9"x30" table to a 5'x5' table that can hold 15,000 lbs easily. I hate working on oil field stuff, but it's cool having a complete machine shop at my disposal to build bike parts, gun parts and whatever else I can think of to build

Hmmm, the pics don't seem to be working. Let me try those again.
and
well, there you go. For some reason it didn't work out posting direct from the Verizon wireless site. I've done it on other forums, and on this one I thought, but apparently I did somthing wrong. Oh well.

What we do
Hi, I work for a small electronics manufacturer. We build control boards and systems mainly for industrial/commercial applications. We also build 1 board for a company that manufactures mine sweeping equipment. I am the maintenance department (I said it was a small company) and one day I may have to work on a leak in the roof and later that same day troubleshoot the cpu board for a robotic insertion machine. In between I build assembly fixtures or what ever is needed to get product out the door, I was a certified machinist in another life. Been with this company now for 28 years in January. I also do some small residential contracting on the side when I have time.

Re: What do you do at work?
I work for my family business that my dad started in 1984 when I was a freshman in high school. Mack's Plaques & Trophies. A sports award business and corporate awards. I worked at Makita Power Tools for 11 years gear hobbing the tool shafts for the main motor assembly. Not 10' feet across, but the same methods probably. Finally got tired of working for ungreatful A-holes most of my life. My dad begged me to come work for him since I've helped him since the begining anyway. Working with family can nearly impossible, but they make great pills for the remedy. I work with my dad, wife, and mom everyday.

Re: What do you do at work?
I make the internet run FAST ...
I do network design and some troubleshooting on networks. I used to do the work on many of the large service providers , but now mostly work on federal government stuff.
My other job is building race engines when I have some spare time, but that business has really slowed down this past year.

well, technical support analyst full time job, part time fixing computers & networks, building web sites & servicing them, part time photographer mostly family portraits and kids and weddings on weekends, pretty much busy all the time.
Re: What do you do at work?
I just take away your computers and recycle them at work (such an evil word) and at home, not to mention anything with electronics.
