205 vs 165 on a VT1100
Well, I have about 1k miles on the Douglas 205. Here are my thoughts.
I think I preferred the 165 over the 205. Nothing wrong with the 205, but the 165 was a bit more nimble on this mid sized cruiser, and I kind of miss that around town.
I DO like the highway ride of the 205. No problems in curves or twisties. It looks great from the back (very wide).
But the 165 was easier to turn, lean and such. I do a fair amount of in town riding, and I kind of miss the handling of the 165. It's ride is nearly identical to the Dunlop that came standard. Nearly identical without all of the faults of the motor cycle tire.
I'm going to keep the 205 on there, but in 25k miles, I'll probably put a 165 back on.
My 2 cents.

It'll be awhile! Kinda want to see how many miles I can get out of this tire. In the meantime, I'll be poking around in tire stores for the "perfect" tire!

Re: 205 vs 165 on a VT1100
I may have to change my mind again. I just got back from a 1000 mile trip to Fayettville, AR to SE Kansas, back through Tulsa, OK, and home (Dallas). I noticed a lot more stability at highway speeds with the new fat tire (205).
Took the bike through some twisties on Highway 62 between Talequah, OK and Fayettville, AR and the bike responded well.
I still liked the 165 around town, but may have to ponder what I'll be riding more of.... probably open roads....
Anyway, you can't go wrong with either size tire. Now that we have someone with the Barum on their 1100, that may be the next tire I try out....24k from now!
