The 165 has a sidewall of 132mm's and the 205 that I used has a sidewall of 133.25mm's. It's larger but not by much. You have to double the measurements because you got two side walls.

Re: The 165mm car tire scoop...........
Here's the pics of the 205..........
It really fills out the fender and swing arm area!
Here you will see that it misses the swingarm by 3/4" on both sides. Plenty of room for a bigger tire..hehehehehe
It's got a nice contour to it and appears to handle great so far. Got it up to 85 mph this morning for brief periods of a couple of 20 second burst to see how it handles speed. Every thing OK.

Re: The 165mm car tire scoop...........
It doesnt look like it pinchs in like the 185 did.
Im working within 4 blocks of two tire shops, so I may just spend some time today and see if I can find something, not hurry its snowing now, I guess I could put some snow tires and studs on.

Wayne,
Let me know what you find. This is a snow and rain tire. Most of the performance tires had too wide of opening in them. So I picked this tire and since I have ridden the 165's with the same thread pattern, I like the way they handle and look.......... plus they have a little more contour to them.
I remember when you tried the 185's in the VTXOA days, so I was leery doing the 205, but it did great! I guess the 185's aren't the way to go.

Hey no fair...you've got more clearance on the driveshaft side.
Looks good though.
Looks good though.
Re: The 165mm car tire scoop...........
Toasted if you have a flat is there enough room for the tire to expand as it deflates, will the rear lock up on you as it gets caught in the driveshaft?

uh.....you know....i dunno....i do know I can get 2 credit cards in there and there's about 1/4 inch on the other side...if not more...but the idea is not to get a flat.
I like Twin's find....coulda saved myself about $400.

Not so sure you would have to worry about it expand, if you get a flat. I would think it would be the other way around, except the part with the weight on it.

Re: The 165mm car tire scoop...........
Just to let you guys know that the Douglas 205.....It's punching 50 on the durometer. That's pretty good. My new un-mounted Multi-Mile 165 punches 56.

Re: The 165mm car tire scoop...........
I need to tell you guys....People notice it now. When I had my 165, I had to tell them I had a car tire. But NOT now..... I rode met up with some riders today coming home, and they all notice the tire and liked it a lot.

It doesn't make a difference with or without air in it when you take the readings with the durometer. It only does rubber. Do you remember what you rear motorcycle tire reading was when you and smokey came over that time?

I remember, just since you had used the term unmounted, I thought maybe there was a difference.
