Darkside tire for 1800's....by Duc Empty hieght

Post  Shock Doctrine Sat Mar 08, 2008 2:57 pm

I was reading about someone who used the Goodyear eagle and he said 1- he thought the 60 would be better than the 55. Goodyear eagle F1 205/55/16 he also said the tire rubbed and he had to grind the inside of his fender- I would like comments on the difference between the 55 and 60. And if all 205 need grinding to the inside of the fender. It's just the look of that tire's tread was great. Does anybody know of another tread pattern that looks that good- thanks

different manufactures and different motorcycle suspension set-ups, rider weight, and models make for a bit of variables. there is not cut and dried answer, different tire manufacturers have slightly different shapes and sizes of tires that are listed as the same size...

the 60 series is closest to the same size as your stock tire, the 55 is shorter...

Hey shock Doctrine
This might be ture on 1800f,n etc. due to the long fenders on back, But i run it on my 1800C and have no problem. I also have the stock suspension on my bike. I hope this help.

Darkside tire for 1800's....by Duc Empty getting close

Post  Shock Doctrine Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:11 pm

Thanks for the reply- got the Goodyear Eagle 1 from The tire Rack- just in case have ground the inside rail down. The local shop won't mount it , but they are taking the old one off and checking the rear bearing. Haven't put a tire on in years but will try soon. Also don't know if I am allowed to mention but a good place to get parts is the bikebandit.

Post  Shock Doctrine Thu Mar 20, 2008 7:52 pm

Well I'm having no luck mounting it myself- if I keep it up there won't be much left of the tire- not like my kids dirt bike tires. Got to find another way. Note my back wheel bearings were gone at 8000 miles.

The tire is on, and I'm digging it so far. Woot, I say, woot! Smile The sport bike shop that I had put the tire on are pretty cool guys. The owner is a Wing guy who put a CT on his bike one, but never got to ride it... his son took the bike and got t-boned and totaled the bike. So they knew that it was doable and all that. They did all the work, it turned out great. I haven't ridden it much yet, just the ride home. I hit the interstate and rode I35E in Dallas during rush hour... seemed to work out ok. LOL I have been reading Hough's Proficient Motorcycling and so far the only thing I could say "bad" about the darkside is that you're really better off "riding right" and using good steering techniques.

No. Well ok.

I just looked at my profile. I'm not 39, dammit! My birthday isn't until SUNDAY! I demand a recount! There must be a hanging chad in the code or something.

When the list came out, it wasn't invented yet. The GT Altimax HP is brand new for spring 08'. In my size it should be listed with an asterisk and/or footnote: Mods req., see install thread.
