Want to convert 1800S to darkside recomend:
Planning on going to a C or R wheel and buying the best and stickiest all weather car tire I can find, please help.
I gave up on trying to put a radial on a spoke rim, so what is the best combo you guys know of? Does it matter C or R rim?
Is Dyna Beads for real? what preasure do you recomend?

Thanks Chris

any of the X rims are interchangeable, just know the s has different rotor

people have put CT's on the spoke rims, both this a tube and with sealing the rim and running tubeless

start around 40psi and play with it till you find a pressure that works for you

dyna beads work good.

tons of good tires out there, I have no experience with anything you'd be running to give you first hand knowledge though....

After 2 year of using a sealled rim (used Polysufide) I'm happy but still would like to go dark side. who has done an S with a good bead?

this was my attempt: No
Correct me if I'm wrong

The Inner tube or sealling the rim is not the problem. I sealled my rim, but the problem is that there is not way to seat the bead. The tire holds air but it ain't seated. this is what I've done so far.

Thatís my tire above, looks cool in the pic , but I could not get the bead to seat on either side. In short I think there is a difference between motorcycle bias rims and Radial tires, Iím no tire expert.

This is what I tried:

Quote:
I did seal the rim myself, using the same stuff as Wheel Works in Calf.
(Polysufide) there is enough info on the web to do it sucesfully. The rim tonight had 120 PSI trying to get the bead to seat, and no leaks out the rim spoke holes.

Man I thought this would work, the MC mech took it to 100 PSI and was afraid to go any higher. Next took it to a Truck tire place; they had a tire cage and they said that it would not go on. Talk to a friend he said that I should spray the lip with silicon spray pressure it at least 100 PSI and wack the side wall with a 3 LB hammer, so DON"T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
I silicon sprayed the lip with silicon, pressure it at least 120 PSI and Beat the side wall with a 20 LB sledge hammer. It was insaine!@#$$

Push the tire off the beads and apply some really soapy water with a rag on the tire beads, should blow right on there now. I had the same problem but after the soapy water trick, she went right on.

Sound like a good Idea... So I put the soapy water on the tire bead, preasured to 35 PSI, took my normal hammer and wacked arround the side wall... It ... didn't.... wwork. ,pressure it at least 120 PSI and Beat the side wall with a 20 LB sledge hammer.

Hmmm....[/quote:jnwuonic]
Iím sure that Iíd like the car tire but Iíll wait till someone else has don it without extreme measures
.

We have gone to 125 psi.....it is dangerous! But it usually pops on by then. Always take precautions and follow all safety by not being around the tire while trying to seat the bead. Always use a locking air chuck and NEVER HOLD THE AIR CHUCK BY HAND!!!!! Have a quick release at the compressor to release the air as soon as it seats the bead.

Some guys with the spokes have aired them up to 100 psi and put the bike on a stand and ran it thru the gears to sling the bead out and onto the rim. Again not recommended for the safety issue, but some have done this.

Remember, you do this at your own risk! I have to say this because mounting tires are very dangerous task and should only be attempted by professionals.

Any one have a Pic of a CT on a 1800S spoke rim?

Post  VTXHOGG on Thu Mar 25, 2010 12:39 pm

I 'm thinking I might try is again "CT on a 1800S spoke rim" but would really like to talk to someone that has done it. Neutral

Otherwise I'm looking for a 1800R rim and rotor.

Thanks bobby and nodakbassmaster
