175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
I bought a 175/75-16 tire and I just got it on and it fits my bike('98 VT1100-T) with room to spare. It does sit about 3/4 to 1" taller(1/2" at the saddle) than the wore out 180/70-16 E3 that came off of it. I had my wife sit on the bike and I rode the bike up and down off of the sidewalk to see if I could make the new tire rub, I could not make it rub but right now I only have less than 5 miles on it. I'm running 35 psi right now but after I get use to the taller bike I'll drop the psi down to around 28/30 to see if it rides better, most bikes with car tires run lower tire pressure than what they ran in a motorcycle tire.
So far(5 miles) I'm happy.
Here are some pic's

Hey, that's a Comtrac, which they don't make anymore...where on earth did you get it? I have one and it would be my first
choice again. Flawless tire.

Re: 175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
I have found that with this tire(175/75-16) it's best with 38 psi(cold) one up and 42 psi(cold) two up. My wife and I weigh 450 with all the gear and with a 75 aspect tire(taller sidewall) I have to run a little more air than I did when I had a 65 aspect tire(shorter sidewall).

So did you have this tire shipped from the UK? I see there are no prices or link to contact them on the site. What did you pay?

I bought my tire from these guys and paid $153 to my door.

If they don't have the 175/75-16 tire anymore I would try the 195/65-16 tire made by the same company(Comtrac).

Re: 175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
One more thing, I use to be able to cruise at 35 mph in 5th gear with my 180 E3 but with this taller tire I have to go 40(by the speed-o) or the engine starts to buck(to low of a rpm for the speed). So it upped my gearing more than I thought it would and it proves to me that Honda should have put a higher 5th gear on this bike(VT1100-T) or put a 6th gear in it. I like it on the freeway and I still would like a little higher top gear, I can't wait to see how my mileage will be with this tire.

Cannot find the tire
I tried to find this tire and no one seems to have it. Not even the folks that5 you got yours from. I looked at the UK sites but no one that I found have a clear path to setup shipping to the US. But thanks to you for giving a fellow ACE T rider a start down the wrong path.

Just get an Austone and be done with it. Seems like the same tire as the Comtrac and no one reported any trouble with them either.

If you are talking about this tire, it is a 78 or 80 series tire so it will be just a little bit taller(7/10") than the 175/75-16 tire that is on my bike.

That tire is a whole 4+ inches on the circumference! Don't think that is an option.
Tire 1 Tire 2 Difference
Sidewall Height: 4.69 5.37 0.68
Section Width: 6.69 6.89 0.2
Overall Diameter: 25.37 26.75 1.38
Circumference: 79.7 84.03 4.33
Revs per mile: 794.96 754 -40.96
Tire one is the original 170/70r16
Tire two is the one suggested
I m running a '99 ACE Tourer VT1100t.
Anyone have another suggestions?

Re: 175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
I have a 175/75-16 on my '98 ACE Tourer and I think the 175/78-16 would fit, its only 7/10" taller than the tire I have on the bike right now.
Only one way to find out, do what I did go and buy it and find out. It will be at least 3 years before I need a new rear tire and before I put this tire(175/75-16) on my "T" no one else had posted that they had done this on a "T"(or any C/T for that matter). I think it would fit and not rub because with my wife and gear we weigh in at 460lbs and the rear tire does not rub with the stock '98 rear shocks. So it you don't weigh that much you won't compress the rear suspension as much as my wife and I do and we don't rub at all.

I ordered it
We shall see. The description of it showed that:
SKU U66235
Construction Tubeless 6 Ply Poly/Steel
Load Capacity 1650 @ 36 psi
Overall Diameter 26.90"
Tread Width 5.50"
175R16 Austone Taxi Tire
Now I gotta find a place to mount it.

Re: 175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
The 175/75-16 tire that I have on my bike has a overall diameter of 26.3" so that is only 6/10" more or 3/10" radius. That's not much bigger than my tire. Try Walmart for mounting, you have to take the rim off but I know people that had there tire changed at Walmart(something like $10).

Both the Austone and the Comtrac have a Overall Diameter 26.90", according to my figures from the websites.
I don't know where Mr. White got 4" larger.

You all are right
Sorry I started a new post on accident.

I was not comparing apples to apples when I made that statement. But thanks much for the quik replies here!
As far as mounting goes. Yeah I figured I will have to take off the wheel myself. Looks like a job that will take about a good two hours. Will try to get it off this weekend.

Re: 175/75-16 tire on a VT1100-T and it FITS
Someone did the math and came up with 175/80/16 for the Austone. That is 8.75 mm larger in diameter, or 7/8" unless I miss my math.
Wouldn't that raise the bike 7/16" in back? But still, I don't get how they can have the same circumference and a different diameter. Maybe
it has something to do with width also?
Here I done went and confuzed myself.

And the "Tire Calculator says!"
According to the tire size calculators of the web. The actual size is 175/76.2R16. I say 76.2 because to do 76 will make the tire less than the 26.5 diameter and to say 76.5 would make it larger.
That's not my math that's a calculators. I find it interesting that a car manufacturer would need such an dd size tire.

600+ miles ....
.... and so far its been fine.I would like to put a camera on it to see how it rides from an undercarraige view. But that will have to wait. But as a ride. I cannot complain. It seems to perform as expected. I lean very hard in turns sometime and I do not feel unsafe. The only thing that I can say is that since it is a bit taller (by 1.5" overall) it did take some getting use to. With at least 600 miles I have no issues.
