I've been lurking long enough, figured it was time I registered and asked for advice...
As the title says I have a 95 1100 ACE. It has a tired Dunlop K555 on the back (170/80/15) with spoked rims and therefore a tube as far as I know. Here is my list of wants in a C/T:

1. Taller than my stock 25.4" height for better highway revving
2. Symmetrical tread pattern (I know this shouldn't really make a difference but hey, they look better that way!)
3. It needs to work with my stock rim and a tube
4. Width is no major concern to me but given the choice I would go narrower

So I was excited when I found the vw tires being mentioned on here so much but I can't find the size I want. Ideally I would like to cram a 205/70/15 in there. I found a General Grabber UHP in that size w/ a 26.3" diameter. I want to take some measurements and see if there is any way I could make it fit.

I suppose my question is, has anyone used the Grabber? I see the Altimax everywhere but I can't find the size I want. Any advise?

I ran a General Grabber UHP on my VTX1300C for a couple of years. Great tire.
I switched to a Michelin HydroEdge, just to try something different.
It was just as good as the General except smoother,
I think I called it Marshmallow Smooth.

Either is a good choice! thumbup

Thanks Doc, that Mich looks like a nice tire too. Good call!
Any opinion on if I could get that 205 70 15 in my bike? It seems some people can on the shafted 1100s and others can't... I'm left wondering.

95 ACE VT1100C2 going ds Empty 205 70 15 fits on a VT1100C2

Well, I got the Michelin Hydroedge in a 205 70 15. A buddy of mine mounted it for me and it fits!

Here it is on the bike:

I like the tire, I plan on putting a couple hundred miles on it today so I can really get a feel for it.

What did you do to prepare the rim? Proper cleaning and lubing the rim can make all the difference. FWIW, a 205 tire won't fit my '05 1100C2. The 195 fits perfectly, though. It did take a bit over 90 PSI to get it to set, but I didn't do any rim preparation. Didn't know I should have until after the wheel was back on the bike!
