New Darksider!!
Joined the Darkside today!! I had no idea what I was missing!! I'm running a Dextero DC880 195/65/15 which cost me $58 at Walmart. I ride a 1998 Shadow Spirit 1100. I've only put about 40 miles on it so far, and I can honestly say that I'll never go back. I'm dragging hardware through the twisties and the stopping power is unbelievable! This tire is not the directional symmetrical design that most recommend, but I can tell you that there is absolutely NO difference turning left or right. I'm currently running 40 psi and doubt I'll change it. It took all of about 10 miles to get used to the feel. All I can say is awesome awesome awesome!! I'll try to get some pics up soon.

Welcome to the darkside. Don't get to wild until you get the mold release wore off. You will probably lower the pressure as the miles pile up. I find I drop 2 lbs for every 4-5000 miles. Not sure why, it just feels better to me.

Re: New Darksider!!
I took it through some really tight, low speed turns in a parking lot to scrub off the mold release. Then a nice smoky burnout, just for the hell of it. By the way, it took 125 psi, LOTS of dish soap, and several tries to seat the bead. I used a clip on tire chuck with 100 ft of hose, so there was plenty of distance between me and the wheel.

Smart move on the hose.

Re: New Darksider!!
Congrats sir and welcome to the darkside! Glad you are liking it and I have been on a non-directional for 4 years now. Trust me it will do everything the other tires can do.

Re: New Darksider!!
Welcome and
Nice to read you got rid of the mold already.
What rests is playing with the pressure to find her sweet spot.
Enjoy.

Re: New Darksider!!
Ha ha... was the closest thing I could find to cover it. I have a friend that swipes those rags from a hospital for me. I have tons of them.

Those blue towels are great.
Congrats on getting your tire on.... what's the story about that bearing on the floor?
If it's in the picture... somebody is going to ask???

Re: New Darksider!!
I had a front wheel bearing fail recently. Just never threw it away. As you can see, there wasn't much left of it.

Re: New Darksider!!
hay is that a wheel bearing beside your tire can never b to safe. your tire looks just like my sumitomo.

Re: New Darksider!!
Dropped my pressure down to 36 psi yesterday. Feels pretty nice, might play with the springs a little.. And yes, that is a wheel bearing on the floor. I had to replace the front bearings a while back (the left one pretty much disintegrated on the highway) and I guess I never picked that one up.

Several Thousand Miles Later
My tire still looks new. People still approach me in parking lots and ask about it. Some are skeptical , others are very curious . My sweet spot is definitely 36 psi! If I'm riding 2up or heavily loaded I actually DROP to 34psi and give the springs a click up. I run my front tire at 40psi. I love the extra stopping power from the rear. It also behaves much better on gravel. I'd like to go double DS but there aren't any good alternatives for a 19" rim (that I've found ). Looking for a Sabre front rim (18") to hopefully solve that.
