i MAY have fond someone in CT willing to do this for me.

he looked at my tire and said (freind of a friend who works for town fair tire) "it looks like a standard 15" rim".

does this sound right and would a standard 15" tire work on it or should i order a tire you guys recommend and bring it to him?

thanks

man im syked if this works out

When using a spoke rim with a tube you want to find a tire with a narrow bead width. My Yokahama tire is just under an inch wider than my rim. The douglas I had on before it was 5/8 wider than my rim. The Yok to 69 lbs to seat, the douglas around 40. I am using a cast rim but you can see the narrower the bead width the easier it is to seat. Traditionally a 70 series is a about a half inch narrower than a 65 series.
Hope this helps.

For the 750....try the 165/80/15 which is the VW tire!

is it better to use a tube with a spoked rim?

honestly i know VERY LITTLE about tires. What i am mostly concerned with is the saftey, is a spoked rim less safe?

thanks

As far as safety goes I think a spoked wheel is just as safe as any other wheel. Concerning the tube unless you have sealed the spokes you will have to use a tube and yes you can use a tube in a tubeless tire. Someone else will have to tell you where the thread is that shows you how to seal the spoked wheel. Good luck and hope you have many happy miles 2002 shadow spirit 750 7

I suggest you do it NOW. You mentioned concerns about safety. I feel way safer with the CT on the back. Now this is a huge and very heated issue with the nay sayers on other boards. Im just tellin ya that My bike Goes, Stops and has awesome wet weather characteristics. Wont go back to a MT on the back. Will quit riding first. Period.

Use your stock mc tube and be done with it! No car tire tube matches the MC rim. JMO

found some place that might do it but they were wondering about sealing it.

this is actually some little performance shop more than a mechanic so the concern of whether this tire will deflate and roll off the rim while im on the high way of course bothers me.

anyone have a good instructional i can study to better inform this place (or any place if i dont use them).

thanks

First of all, IT TAKES A MACHINE TO BREAK THESE CAR TIRES OFF THE RIM WHEN YOU NEED TO CHANGE THEM!!!!!!! When you have a flat on car tire it is 100 times more noticeable and you WILL NOT be riding for long enough to even think about rolling it off the rim like you can with a motorcycle tire.

Secondly.....you should send them here...well on second thought, it takes common sense to understand this mod called the darkside.........LOL

well a new year and another try at this. i havent forgotten about it yet and am very determined now.

I am going to pull some parts from my bike to re spray it and do some mods, maybe bob the rear fender and put some hard struts on it.

In CT Still if anyone has a recommendation on a shop cause i must have went to like 30 places calling and walking and no one would touch it.

thanks

165/80/15 is the tire recommend. I FINALLY found a guy here right at work with a tire machine who used to work for a motorcycle shop willing to do this.... the gods smile upon me i guess. Is there a particular brand i should look at or will any tire this size work?
also i dont think i ever asked but are there alterations to the swing arm that need to be done? he was more concerned than i.
and lastly i have an undermounted cats eye tail light. will i lose height clearance and have to move the light? thanks guys
