Mounting a Kumho run flat
I am making the switch to the darkside and just ordered a 195 Kumho run flat for my GL1800. I have had enough of slipping around on wet roads with the OE Dunlop. My question is: Do the stiff sidewalls of the run flat make the tire difficult to mount? I have mounted many tires but never on a goldwing and my understanding is that the OE MC tires for that bike are relatively stiff and can be difficult to mount. What should I expect?

Re: Mounting a Kumho run flat
Bowtie,
A most excellent choice of c/t for the Wingabago!!!!! Icannot say how hard it will be to mount the Kuhmo, but I've heard you may want to have a few extra hands, if your going to try to mount it yourself. I purchase mine from a smalltown tire dealer and have them mount it for $10.00. You may want to hunt around for a small tire dealer to do same. I balance mine with a home-made balancer. Being a machinist, I made my own. A lot of folks use 3 oz. of Dyna-beads in place of wheel weights. My Kuhmo only used 1 gram of weight to balance. Anyways, the tire shop made it look easy!!!!!! I've found 32 psi is great for my riding style. Non-agressive- 2 up. Be careful out there. Semper-fi Mike

Re: Mounting a Kumho run flat
Welcome Bowtie.
Cool name by the way. I just about have my brudder-in-law convinced to go to the darkside on his wing too. From what I understand it will go right on. Good luck and you wont regret it. The only thing I regret is not doing it sooner.
Let us know how it goes.
Peace.
