Front Tire Poll Empty Front Tire Poll

Post  Patch Tue Feb 10, 2009 1:21 pm

Ok, so its time to replace the front tire on my 05 1300R. I'm still running a dunflop 170 / 30 / 17. Before I go sink money into another Dunplop, I was wondering what everone else is running and how you like them. I would like to go wider, but not willing to reverse a rear tire. Ok experts, tell me what you think!!!!

Metxler. Like having the Radial on front and back. Don't know if it makes a difference, but did it anyways.

Metz on the front. Was running the 150 radial up there, but decided to try the 140 bias, that was a mistake, Im going back to the 150 radial, better handleing and last longer.

metz 880 140. Did some of you say that the 150 is better? I will be needing a new one in the near future and was just wondering if there is a better choice than the 140. I run the 205 douglas on the rear.

Hey Hudi, Good to read from you again. I went with the 150 because it was $40 cheaper. I will go back to the 140 with the next one. Nothing against the 150 just want to go back to the original height.

Unk Jer.
Sounds like you already know what you want. Go and get it.

Hated the Dunny. Bought a Metz. Not enough time to tell you now but it did perform well on the last ride. We will see on how fast it takes to rub the sides off. My last one was worn pretty well off completely. The wife was convinced that the middle was supposed to wear out first. Something muct be wrong with the tires. ha ha ha. To be honest they will prolly dry rott before I wear them down this time. Not ha ha.

Peace.

We 1300C riders have the skinny front tire (110/90-19) so I'm not sure if they make it in your size, BUT I have run about every tire known to man, woman and monkey and I have not found any cruiser tire that compares with the Continental milestone. They are incredible tires, last long, grip great, don't follow rain grooves and cost less than the Avon/Metz guys, but a little more than the Dunflops. I've talked a co9uple of guys into running them and they love them too, one of the best kept secrets in the cruiser world IMHO.

A 140/80/17 front tire is a no go for Continental. But thanks for the info on a good tire George.

I have, and love, my Bridgestone S11 Spitfire. It just seems to be heavy or thicker than some of the others I've seen. Wouldn't touch a Dunlap again. Running Kumho on rear. I hope this helps and if someone is up to it we could have a running poll showing who's running what tire on the front and back. Might tell us something Surprised

i'm running the stock dunlop 110-90-19 on my C. i would love to lose the fender, find a wider wheel and put something wider up front. (this is instead of buying a different bike that already came this way). i just love the wide tire up front look. has anyone out there already done this???

I have a perelli up front and to tell you the truth, I don't notice any difference between it and the dunny replacement tire. Got it cheap on ebay and will do it again.....

Post  Big Green Valley Thu Apr 02, 2009 9:03 am

I'm back to a Dunlop on the front. Came with the cast wheel that I bought. It's still got a lot of meat on it, so I don't want to spend the money on a new front just yet.

I was wondering, what would be a wider option for the 19" front rim? Would a 120/70 fit inside the R front fender? That's the size used for the HD VRod front.

What do you guys think?
