Building two into one pipes on a C model...w/pics!!!!
Here is the start of my two into one exhaust build. I am measuring to make sure I am in the ball park on pipe and everything will fit with some slop for cutting.
Checking the bends to the outter shields to make sure I can put the shields when done....hmmmmmmm Do I put shields or black exhaust wrap.....Which one????????
The rear BUB exhaust fits right up to the HD Ultra Classic pipes like a glove. Make things easier to finish.
Check out the phat end of the Ultra Classic exhaust....they will be drilled thru and thru when I'm done. Can't have a bike that quiet...hehehehe
This is the rear BUB exhaust w/ shield butted up to the HD exhaust. Fits perfect if I use the shields! Notice the short piece of exhaust at the top of the pic......I cut it off the other HD muffler as a the splice for the front exhaust so, it can be made it two pieces!!!!
Alright...here's what going to make you mad....here's my boss clowning around with the drill!!! Thanks EJ. He is a motorcycle nut! Anything to do with motorcycles, he's game. Especially if you say.."let's cut something up!"
Back up or I will do it! I mean it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check in later for more pics to come as it goes together. Next will remove old exhaust and bolt this up for final marks and get ready to cut and weld. It will be in two pieces to allow it to fit the bike easier.

Bobby, lookin good so far. Just wait till you see my new pipes. I'm kinda going in the opposite direction, very loud and obnoxious. The thing is they will be my "rally" pipes and the rest of the year I run my mellow Cobra longshots
I'll post a thread on mine when I get time to work more on them.

It is a good work bench and great for work like this.

In that first pic .....is that a little VW bug under the edge of the table???
Just wondering if that was the start of the darkside thoughts.

Re: Building two into one pipes on a C model...w/pics!!!!
I have all the pieces I need and cut to length.....Now to remove the HK's from the bike and mock up the exhaust on the bike to verify lengths and bends, then get to welding.
Alright...YOU GUYS HAVE AN OPINION ON EVERYTHING I DO........How come no one has a comment on the shields or wrap! What.....cat got your tongues?????????
(Just so you guys know....most HD stock exhaust are the same diameter as most of our metric bikes. I am using some of the bends from a HD to get the correct bends....Good data! HD pipes are a dime a dozen)

I vote for the shields, if you scrape them .... and you will .... you can just repaint them. If you trash the wrap scraping it it will all have to be redone.

Thanks Badmoon and Smokey for your advice on the shields or wrap....here's the mock up of the exhaust. Tell me what you think?
Here is the shape of the design basically!
Here I am mocking up the bends for the camera!
Here is a close up shot of the bends and the collector going to the muffler.

Moon we will just have to ride way behind or ride lead. They were loud before when we went to Mt Ida so I wore ear plugs knowing what was in store. I think I'll keep a pair of ear plugs or two around just in case.

I ride with a church group and am usually with other bikes when I am just goofin on the bike. I keep ear plugs in my fork bag just for those folks. But I gotta say my pipes are not the loudest but they have some bark to em.

I am currently drilling them out before the final fit....hehehehehe I don't know how they could be any louder than my HK's. Tanglefoot knows too well how loud they are...

If you are allowed to do that at work, I need to change jobs. If I was to stay in one place long enough I could prolly get some mods built. The thing is, it is so hard getting large items back to the beach without having to answer a lot of questions.
Moon.
p.s. what have you decided to do about covers or wrap?

Unca' Jerr........... I like the way you think.
Fellows, I have made a corporate decision. It's wrap for my pipes, not many people have it, just like to be different! Every one has shields, so exhaust wrap it is. "A bagger with wrapped pipes...gotta love it"..............
