gotta thump
ok did my valves and pair mod..........now I got this deep thump during idle like backpressure or something wierd............I short changed the pair mod with just plugging everything could this be the cause of the noise? The only valve needing adjusted was front cylinder exhaust and I have twice checked it to make sure it wasnt sticking open on compression luck enough it is the only vale that can be accessed with only remoing two covers and two hole plugs any way any ideas??????????????

Re: gotta thump
Check all the hoses. Sometimes the line at the back of the tank can get pinched. Cause all kinds of grief and headaches. If that isnt it I'm lost.

Re: gotta thump
I don't think it is from just plugging the hoses and fittings. Unless you plugged the wrong hose, recheck your routing of the hoses to ensure you got the right ones. You dont want to blow out the seal around the shifter when you are running down the road. ( that gets hairy.. dont ask) If it were a leaking cap to the pair valve covers you would hear the reeds hammering in there and the bike would run like a scalded dog. Sounded bad ... ran like a champ, again dont ask So all this rambling just to say recheck the routes you used and blocked to ensurethey are right.

Re: gotta thump
Inspector Darkside,
I just capped mine pair valve off like you did. I didn't do any plates and I have never heard that noise. I think you need to take Jedison advice. You can kink a hose that vents the crankcase when you put it back together and that could be it.

Re: gotta thump
One more thing......did you re-connect all your 1/8th in line back up.....like the one going to the pepcock and teeing off to the carb.
If you don't find it we will be there Thursday and tear your bike apart while you are cooking! Watch riding your bike a lot till then, because if it is a kinked vent line like Smokey said, you will blow the seal on your bike and oil will go everywhere.

That could be. Ride it and see if it comes out of it.
