Tire's,how much off speedo

Post  bigkid on Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:33 am

Does anyone have any idea how much difference in the speedo between a 60 and 65 sidewall ??
I'm looking at a gytt but they don't come in 205/65/16. 205/60/16 is as close as they get.I understand the 65 is closer on the speedo. Are we talking 1 or 2 mph?? Or 10 mph diff?? Question

I went from a metz 200=65-16 to a GYTT 205-60-16.... my speedo went down about .5mph. No big difference..BARELY noticeable.

I got lucky - got the Vredestein on today and used the Garmin to clock myself - now my speedo is dead on!
I also like the upgearing it gave me; still plenty of torque to get moving with a load.
It's a Harley thing.

What a bear to get on. Had to buff the scratches out of my wheel from the tire tools.
Slipped into place and ready to bolt up.
Probably Monday. Gotta work Sunday. lol!

Do you have a "C" model???? IF you do, you may need to chop the "ears" off the fender bracket and grind them down. I had to.... It was cutting into the sidewall when I drove hard twisties or rode 2-up. (This was with a Metz 200mm tire).

Just food for thought.

Last update for the rear 2000 mile turn to Sturgis all is well. I did find it a little stiffer on the twisties at Custer 's park etc.
Gonna change out the front to something a little heavier. Maybe a rear tire??

Thanks for ALL THE HELP guys!!
