New Darksider !!!
Have Been reading or quite some time now and finally decided to come to the dark side! My Avon's have finally given up the ghost!! Just have a few noob questions , First off not sure about which tire. I see some run the GYTT and some the Altimax. I Ride a 1998 Valkyrie Tourer (The Fat Lady)! I'm 6'2" and 390 !! Do I need to do the nut cage mod running a 205/60 16? Do I need to use a run flat? Think I'm going back with the Avon in the front. Had thought about the Bridgestone for the front but not sure! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

Re: New Darksider !!!
First of all Welcome.....
Highbinder had to do a lot of work on the nut cage on his B/R IS when he went DS a few years back..I would say do it..
Or go to a 195.... No work is required for that..
Than he went back to a moto tire after riding DS for 3 + yrs..
He just bought 2 Austone Taxi tires 175/16 for his valks.. He likes it so far.Only has it on his 97 Tourer
The others are not needing a rear tire yet...
So he has been drawn back to the DS....
P>S> HB is under 196 lbs...and 6' ....
And we just bought 3 rear moto tires to run on the fronts of the valks..
I'll be going double DS now...
They didn't get here yet...I can't wait to try it...

New Darksider !!!
Finally did it! Put on a new Altimax Hp 205/60/16 today!! LOVE IT! Rode about 250 miles today and now wondering "What took me so long" ! Anybody considering the switch give it a try!! It's different but feels so much more stable to me ! Bike seems like its glued to the pavement!! I'm running 35lbs now but thinking about going up a little. I'm 6'2" about 340 and ride 2 up with the wife most of the time! Don't think I'll be switching back anytime soon!!

Darkside Wobble! Worried!
Recently went darkside on a 98 Valkyrie 1500Ct . Went with a Gen Altimax HP 205/60/16 running about 40lbs. I'm 6'2" 340, And at about 80mph bike goes crazy with wobble ! Was told tire had been properly balanced , so what gives? I also often ride 2 up with the wife so need to get this straight ASAP! Please help !! Have no idea what the problem could be.Also nut cage has been removed!

Re: New Darksider !!!
Try putting more air in it and test it again. Please be careful..
I do remember other DS riders talking about a wobble over 100 mph...Some never got ride of it ..And just lived with ...
Others never had a wobble....
Maybe the tire has a defect and be out of round that does happen...
But a high speed wobble is a balancing woe..
I hope this helps...
