C10 Concours Empty C10 Concours

Post  deltafar Thu Feb 07, 2013 10:56 pm

Has anybody tried one on the older concours? I have a 95' that I would like to try it on. I am currently running a 160/80 16 and I am just wondering if anybody knows what the would be in a car tire size? The current tire just barely clears the swing arm. Any help would be great Very Happy

See if a 185/75-16 will fit.

I've somewhere around 40,000 on my 05 Concours with a 195/70r15 Vredestein Comtrac tire, which isn't made anymore.

It fits just fine, but must be deflated when mounted, or it will not fit between the frame mounts. Any 195 tire should also work. Since the C-10 is top heavy, there is a noticeable difference in handling at walking speed, but above that it is just as stable and even better for cornering during wet conditions.

You counting me, Dan?

Just wore out my second Austone 175R16 on the 2000 C10.

Third Austone now has a few thousand miles, and good as evah.

saxman!
No I did not, I now count you too!!! LOL Surprised
I read recently of the Austone tire, maybe it was your post? Made me think it was similar to the Veredstein tire I tried (on stock 16" wheel) which has been discontinued.
Glad to hear how well is is working on your C10.
I Have continued to use the Federal on the 15" Eliminator wheel on the Kaw C10 and love the traction and mileage 20k
Now just installed the Kumho tire so looking fwd to wx warming for a ride. The low today is about 25F, much lower than norm.

Hey Dan

Yes, the Austone is a lot like the Vredestein. Except you can actually buy a new Austone.
$152 at Universal tire, plus shippin. 34,500 miles on my latest Austone, and I pulled it
just after it hit the 2mm wear bars.

I live in the mountains, so EVERY ride begins and ends with 15-80 miles of mountain road goodness,
depending on which route I take. So it is not just good on slab rides.

Newbie to the forum here. I'm looking to upgrade from my current Dunlop E3s. They have served me well, but at 18,000 I'm into the rear wear bars and at the wear bars up front. They are oversized, intended for the 1500 Goldwing. I have 2 questions.

1. Is this Austone on the stock rim? What size is it exactly please?
2. What do you run up front? I'd love to have both tires last that long!

Thanks much!

Stock C10 rim and Austone are currently FOR SALE. $150 plus shipping.

You buy the tire with about 2000 miles on it, and you get it mounted up on the wheel basically for free.

I sold the C10 and have a C14 now, and the buyer didn't want the darksider setup, so there you have it.

I ran the Bridgestone BT45 rear tire on the front (Double Darkside!!), and got about 15,000 miles out of those.
There was still a whole lot of tread down the center, but the softer compound rubber on the sides was gone by then.
Somebody who does less twisty road riding and more slabbing would get a lot more miles.

And turning the front tire around is an old wives tale. They solved that manufacturing problem about 80 years ago.
