Nexen N5000
I'm looking at the Nexen N5000 tire for my 94 Honda Magna.
I've been looking at the measurements. Seems the 185/65/15 should be the right diameter, and I'm guessing that the section width should end up around 6.6 to 7" based on their section width of 7.4" on a 5.5" wide rim. The Magna has a 3.5" wide rim. There is about 7.3" clearance for tire width in the fender, though I would have to do something to the brake stay rod to fit it. Any flaws in my thought process there?
Also, I was thinking if the Nexen N5000 isn't the tire to go with, what is the feeling on the General Altimax HP? Both are directional tires, with similar expected wear characteristics.
What do those with more experience say about this? My biggest concern is the section width I should expect. Up to 7" section width I would think would work fine, but if it's over that I would end up with only 1/10th of an inch clearance. I want to go with this size because it actually has choices in tires. The 165/80/15 tire I've seen suggested has about three tires to choose from, and they're hard to find.

Re: Nexen N5000
I'm runing a Nexen on my 900 lb Voyager and love it, just over 4k now and no sign of wear or any problems what so ever.

Re: Nexen N5000
That's good to know Gearhead. Thanks.
Does anybody know what kind of section width I can expect with a 185/65/15 tire mounted on a 3.5" wide rim? Come on, somebody's done it. Let me know.

Here's mine on a 3 1/2 inch rim and as you can see it rides on all the tread perfect without getting on the side walls, just over 4k and love it at 50 psi.

Re: Nexen N5000
That looks great. What size is it and how wide is it at the widest point? I need to know for clearance issues.
