Re: New Tire on 05 Venture
Congrats on your Darkside! You will love that tire, I loved mine and it did everything great. Lower your pressure to about 35 psi and you will do fantastic. 40psi is a little high, but get it like you like it. Most all of us that rode that tire ended up from 31 to 35 psi.
Smooth aint it?? It handles the bumps and potholes the best of all in my opinion.

Re: New Tire on 05 Venture
OKAY it official, I am not sure if you are 2 extremly brave individuals, or just plain crazy. 100 psi and hit it with a hammer, 200 psi. You both have gone somewhere I will never venture. I am very glad you are both ok. But I would not recomend any one else reading this to try it.
I'm glad your enjoying the ride.

Re: New Tire on 05 Venture
I think you may be right we are crazy but using the hammer to set a bead i have seen done before with car tires at about 60 psi anyway don't matter it's on...lol... Are you running on the darkside on your bike

Re: New Tire on 05 Venture
Second tire. Ran the Douglas for about 26,000. Have a Yokohama Avid that handles perfect. Got about 5,000 on it. Going to put an Avon roadrieder rear tire on the front, probably tomorrow. Tired of getting 9,000 miles on my front tires. I've gone through the original duncrap and 3 ME880's in 35,000 miles. Don't understand it, keep the air between 39 and 41.

Re: New Tire on 05 Venture
If you have talked to the guys at the MC shops the main reason why they are worried about the CT is the beed coming off at low pressure. If the beed sealed too easy you might have a problem at low pressure. my friend at the tire shop said the tire would take about 300 to 350. My dad in the old days put alittle gas in the tire and lit it too start the seal. If any of you guys tire sealed too easy at hardly no pressure. If you lose pressure your tire could come off the rim. Don't put high pressure to a used tire only a new one. We did'nt use a hammer.

re new tire on 05 venture
Sounds like old wifes tale to me,I see no reason why a ct should unseat any faster than a mc tire and have never heard of it happening makes a good story for the nasayers though.

Front tire
I am moving to the darKside, love the site! I ride 2006 Royal Star Venture, Back Cherry Red and love the bike! Ok tires, I live in Seattle, Edmonds to be specific and see peopel run different sizes. Looking for what is best in for the rear and do I run a car tire on the front? Is low profile better and yes looks are important to me. Thanks for everyones feedback in advance!

re front tire
No ,it is not recomended to run a ct on the front. I don't know if anyone has actually tried it.Everyone here runs ct on the rear and mc tire on the front. Some run a rear mc tire on the front and ct on the rear they call that double darkside.
