CAR TIRE ON A VENTURE
Got everything lubed, new brake pads and went on a short ride thru town, the freeway, and some twistys. I'm taking it easy now, till the tire sets in, but right now I'm liking it.

Lizard , never lube your brake pads. lol just joking , that is great that you are riding on the darkside , how about sending photos, all you have to do is upload them to a photo site like photobucket then highlight the img location and past it in your post si we can see your ride.

Lizard,
Where did you buy the BF Goodrich tire for your venture? I'm planning to put one on mine too and am looking for a deal on one.

Re: CAR TIRE ON A VENTURE
I just went to the local tire store, we have 2 of em, and asked them to order it. It took a week, and they mounted it at no cost. They told me it mounted fine, no problems. Oh, and by the way, I'll post pictures soon...

The tire store had a tire machine to handle bike tires?

ANY mag wheel machine will work on motorcycle rims. Their balancer may not, but static balancing a MC rim is easy. Spin balance is really wasted anyway, as we end up putting all the weight in the middle anyway.

Re: CAR TIRE ON A VENTURE
DeWayne,
I used a BF Goodrich 155/80-15 TA Radial. It's about 1/4 inch or so shorter, but looks good on there. Remember that your speedo will run faster than normal since the tire is a little smaller in height. I looked for a 150/90-15 or larger, but couldn't find it.

Re: CAR TIRE ON A VENTURE
Thought the venture just came out???? Must be thinking of a different bike.
155 is kind of narrow. Did you consider a 165/80R15 Kumho tire for the back? That ought to be just about the same size as the original tire with just a little more width. Not sure how much clearance you have back there. Lot's of us have run this tire with success.

Re: CAR TIRE ON A VENTURE
hi all
the center tread of my tire seems to be wearing smooth, ie. no groves on it. the lt & rt sides still look like new. i have been using between 34-36 psi. last weeked bumped the tire psi up to 40. put on a couple hundred miles, didn't run any twistees. but seems to be a little stiffer, but thats just a feel in the butt kind of thing. will keep a eye on it. i hope to get at least 40 to 50,000 miles out of it. you know the venture is a heavy m/c, i would have only got 12 to 14,000 out of a regular m/c tire. so i'am allready ahead of the game in terms of cost of replacing a m/c tire. i only paid $40.00 fot the bfg. i mounted it my self & did not even balanced it. i may try the kumbo 165/80r-15 when ever the bfg gives out in anouther year or so.
