tire spin ?
my brother has a victory vision 8-ball that he pulls his time out trailer with, and we went to a dealer to see if they would mount a ct. on his rim which they said no way. thay also told him that the ct.would likely spin on the rim pulling a trailer with the extra weight. i have a vtx 1300 with a good/year tt. with 13000 miles on it with no problem. and can't find anything or anyone on this site that had a problem with ct. on their bike while pulling a trailer. i told him he would have no problem with a ct. but he's still not sure.so i told him i'd ask the pros on this site for help and their input. thanks

Re: tire spin ?
Ya hear all sorts of crazy chit when you ask dealers about a car tire on a motorcycle...
A local independent tire & muffler shop mounted my tire for me for $8. Any shop that has a rim grip tire machine can do it.

Re: tire spin ?
I pull a trailer and have for the last 2 yrs with an Austone 175/75-16 @36psi on my 1500GL, no tyre spin whatsoever. I think the spin is coming from the dealer and its called verbal diarrhea. You sure can slide in that stuff

I have pulled a trailer twice with my CT on the wing. I have not seen the tire spin......well it does spin to make the wing fly down the road.....

Re: tire spin ?
I have found that most motorcycle dealers dont know squat about working on motorcycles, the stories I've heard Thats why I do all my own repairs on my bike now. Don't see anyway a CT can spin on the rim as hard as it is to get them to seat in the first place, means their tighter on the rim than a motorcycle tire is. Just remember, the dealer was trying to sell a a $200.00 tire when he said that.

Re: tire spin ?
I'll bet you're right. I slam my bike hard coming out of corners when I'm playing WITH OR WITHOUT the trailer, and you can't MAKE them spin on
the road or on the rim. Another point to it is, the trailer isn't going to ADD any horsepower to your bike, even if it did add a little traction, but
with a Darkside tire? Not.

Re: tire spin ?
Hey, I will say it ..... The dealer is a frigging idiot ......
What? ... everyone was thinking it ... I just said it. If I have not twisted one off the rim then it is not going to happen. Launching a loaded wing at the drag strip with under inflated and over inflated tires dont do it nothing will.
Fire that dealer and enjoy the ride.
See you out there

Re: tire spin ?
Just checked my b. odo reading for the tire...18,500 miles and still a ways to go on the tread. Tell that dealer to stick THAT in his pipe and smoke it!

tire spin
I had a similar conversation will a bike shop. The guy at the shop stated that I should be running a CT on my bike. So, I asked him how did he come to that conclusion. His answer: a CT is designed for a car and a MC tire is designed for a motorcycle. I told him that I have been running this tire for about 7 months and over 8,000 miles, NO problems. He shook his head and stated that I was crazy. He was right, I am crazy and loving every minute of it.
