Tried putting 205 70 15 on and it would not seat. Dealer could not seat it either (blew). Looking back in posts it is indicated that ct are 1/8 smaller than mc tires and someone had to grind edges down to seat spoked rim. Have 1800 retro with spoke rim and wondering is there a tire out there that no mods have to be made to mount?

I put on a Goodyear Triple Tred 205/65-15 after sealing my spoke rim. It took 120 psi to seat it, I have read since if you highly polish the inner rim area they seat better. Many guys have had to go to at least 100 psi to seat theirs on their rims. I did no mods other than seal the spokes.

The car tires are NOT smaller in diameter!!! 15" is 15 inches....the reason why they are hard to seat the bead is the motorcycle rims are so narrow like 3 1/2" wide... compared to the 5-7" wide of a car rim. Secondly the car tires have softer rubber and softer side walls so the roll instead of seat the bead. So, this is why they are harder to seat the bead.

Forget about the myth of the smaller diameter tires!

I installed a 205 70 15 Douglas on a 1800 spoke rim after sealing the rim. First time it took 90 psi to seat. Found out my seal job wasn't the best, broke it down and resealed the rim. It seated the second time at 80 psi. Works great!!!
